Brier City Council Minutes

November 25, 2003



Mayor Protem Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:30 PM and the flag salute was given.

 

Roll Call:

Present:            Councilmembers Colinas, Gipson, Corpron-Smith, Warner, McClenny and Morgan. Councilmember Doolittle arrived at 7:34 PM.

Absent:             Mayor Starks

 

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Protem Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of November 18, 2003. Councilmember Gipson moved and Councilmember Warner seconded to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of November 18, 2003. Motion Carried.

 

Public Requests and Oral Communications: Paul Schroeder, 3226 238th St. SW, spoke regarding the repair of the picnic shelter and stated that he not in favor of increased taxes and informed Council that he had inspected the shelter and believes it could be repaired for less than originally thought.

 

Reports of Committees and City Officials: Councilmember Gipson reported that he attended a Brier Library Board Meeting a few weeks ago and that they had raised about $8,000 on their Silent Auction. Councilmember Gipson explained the cash card program that they run at the Library and discussed weeding in the Spring by the Department of Corrections. Councilmember Colinas stated that he has materials from Public Works and volunteers will apply the paint to have the sign be reflective. Councilmember Gipson reported on an invitation for the Affordable Housing breakfast.

 

Hearings:

Mayor Protem opened discussion of setting a date of December 9, 2003 for the Public Hearing on the Six Year Street Plan. Councilmember Warner moved and Councilmember Doolittle seconded to set the date of December 9, 2003 for the Public Hearing on the Six Year Street Plan. Motion Carried.

 

Miscellaneous Business: Councilmember Colinas stated that he was interested in getting the funding scenario discussed at the committee meeting for the new City Hall from Mayor Starks. Councilmember Gipson reported on the last meeting that the committee had with Warren LaFon and Mayor Starks regarding the specs and brought the Council up to date on the progress of what they discussed. There was Council discussion.

 

Adjournment

Councilmember McClenny moved and Councilmember Doolittle seconded to adjourn. Motion Carried with Councilmember Gipson opposing. The meeting adjourned at 7:45 PM.
