Brier City Council Minutes
May 9, 2006
Mayor
Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:30 PM and
the flag salute was given.
Roll Call:
Present: Councilmembers Krienke, Nick,
Kaemingk, Gipson, Corpron-Smith, Gem, and Morgan.
Public
Requests & Oral Communications:
Vladan Milosavljevic 8428 NE 203rd St
Bothell, brought in wood chips to show the Council what bark is being used. The
council was content with the product because it is chunky and it will prevent
weeds from growing.
James Lukehart 2943 216th St SW, stated
that he would like the Council to look at Milo’s development to make sure it is
being done correctly.
Reports of
Committees & City Officials:
Councilmember Gipson attended the Community Transit
Board Meeting on May 4, 2006.
Councilmember Morgan attended the Snohomish County
Tomorrow Steering Committee Meeting on April 26, 2006. He handed out papers to
the council. He also spoke about the Tomorrow Meeting being held on June 26,
2006 regarding I-933.
Councilmember Kaemingk reviewed payroll and claim
warrants on May 8, 2006.
Councilmember Corpron-Smith stated that the
bathrooms in Brier Park have been painted.
Approval
of Minutes:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of
the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of May 2, 2006. Councilmember Gipson
moved and Councilmember
Kaemingk seconded to
approve the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of May 2, 2006. Motion Carried
Consent
Agenda:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of
the Brier City Council Minutes of April 25, 2006. Councilmember Gipson
moved and Councilmember
Kaemingk seconded to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of April
25, 2006. Motion Carried.
New
Business, Petitions, Communications, Application Appeals:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration to approve
the Mayor’s proclamation for the week of May 14, 2006 to May 20, 2006 to be
police week. Councilmember
Corpron-Smith moved and Councilmember Nick seconded to approve the Mayor’s
proclamation for the week of May 14, 2006 to May 20, 2006 to be police week.
Motion carried.
Ordinances,
Resolutions & Orders:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration to approve
Ordinance No. 333 granting a franchise to Black Rock Cable. Councilmember Corpron-Smith moved and Councilmember Gipson
seconded to approve Ordinance No. 333 granting a franchise to Black Rock
Cable. Motion carried.
Miscellaneous
Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:
Councilmember Corpron-Smith moved and Councilmember
Gem seconded to recess to Executive Session to discuss legal issues
from 7:50 PM to 8:50 PM. Motion carried.
Mayor Colinas stated that there was a Council
consensus to extend the Executive Session to 9:15 PM. The Council returned to
the table at 8:58 PM.
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration review of
the draft Brier Newsletter. There was council discussion.
Auditing of Accounts:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration to approve
April 2006 Payroll Warrants No. 13272 through No. 13327 in the amount of
$102,376.44 and voided warrants No. 13288 and No. 13271. Councilmember Kaemingk moved and Councilmember
Gipson seconded to
approve April 2006 Payroll Warrants in the amount of $102,376.44. Motion
carried.
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration to approve
April 2006 Claim Warrants No. 18158 through No. 18222 in the amount of $102,
220.07. Councilmember Kaemingk moved and Councilmember Gem seconded
to approve April 2006 Claim Warrants in the amount of $102, 220.07. There was
council discussion. Motion carried.
Adjournment:
Councilmember
Corpron-Smith moved and Councilmember
Kaemingk seconded to adjourn. Mayor Colinas declared the meeting
adjourned at 9:17 PM.
