BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

May 8, 2007



Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:32 PM and the flag salute was given.

 

Roll Call:

Present:            Councilmembers Krienke, Kaemingk, Gipson, Corpron-Smith, Gem, and Morgan.

Absent:             Councilmember Nick. City Attorney Rod Kaseguma.

 

Public Requests & Oral Communications:

Peggy Dare 22320 Hickory Way wanted to know if Brier was planning to annex to 14th Ave, rather than current Locust Way.

 

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Councilmember Krienke, Kaemingk, Gipson, Corpron-Smith, Gem, and Nick attended South Snohomish Cities on April 26th.

Councilmember Kaemingk stated that Brier gets the award for the most councilmembers in attendance at the South Snohomish Cities dinner on the 26th. He reviewed warrants on May 6.

Councilmember Gipson attended the Community Transit Board meeting on May 3rd.

Mayor Colinas handed out an invitation to a training session on local planning.

 

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of May 1, 2007. Councilmember Kaemingk moved and Councilmember Corpron-Smith seconded to approve the Brier City Council Workshop minutes of May 1, 2007 Motion Carried. Councilmember Morgan abstained.

 

Consent Agenda:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Consent Agenda which includes Brier City Council Minutes of April 24, 2007, approval of Department of Corrections Community Work Crew Interlocal Agreement for 2007/2008, and approval of Snohomish Regional Drug Task Force Interlocal Agreement for 2007/2008. Councilmember Gipson moved and Councilmember Krienke seconded to approve the Consent Agenda which includes Brier City Council Minutes of April 24, 2007, approval of Department of Corrections Community Work Crew Interlocal Agreement for 2007/2008, and approval of Snohomish Regional Drug Task Force Interlocal Agreement for 2007/2008. Motion Carried. Councilmember Morgan abstained from voting.

 

Unfinished Business:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration a continuation for the approval of Lot Line Adjustment LL06-004 continued from March 13, 2007 council meeting per the request of applicants William Lamb and Nancy Mikolasy at 2704 241st Pl SW and 2714 241st Pl SW.  Councilmember Gem moved and Councilmember Corpron-Smith seconded to  table the issue for the Lot Line Adjustment LL06-004 continued from March 13, 2007 council meeting per the request of applicants William Lamb and Nancy Mikolasy at 2704 241st Pl SW and 2714 241st Pl SW. Motion Carried.

 

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration Mayor’s Proclamation for designation of Police Week May 13th through May 19th 2007, and dedicate May 15th of each year to be Police Memorial Day. Councilmember Kaemingk moved and Councilmember Gem seconded to approve the Mayor’s Proclamation for designation of Police Week May 13th through May 19th 2007, and dedicate May 15th of each year to be Police Memorial Day. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration a motion regarding payment of judgment in the Steele case.  Councilmember Krienke moved and Councilmember Gipson seconded to authorize payment in the amount of $38,994.55 to the Dennis Jordan Trust Account regarding the William Steele judgment in which the City of Brier must make remittance. Motion Carried.

 

Councilmember Krienke wanted to ask that LDMR issues be mentioned in the newsletter.

 

Auditing of Accounts

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the April 2007 Payroll Warrants. Councilmember Kaemingk moved and Councilmember Corpron-Smith seconded to approve the April 2007 Payroll Warrants No. 14037 through No. 14098 in the amount of $105,714.21 with Warrants No. 14039, 14055, 14058, and 14089 being voided. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the April 2007 Claim Warrants.  Councilmember Kaemingk moved and Councilmember Gem seconded to approve the April 2007 Claim Warrants No. 18957 through No. 19001 in the amount of $237,375.90. There was Council discussion. Motion Carried.

 

Adjournment

Councilmember Corpron-Smith moved to adjourn. Mayor Colinas declared the meeting adjourned at 8:06 PM.
