BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

November 6, 2007



Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:32PM and the flag salute was given.

 

Roll Call:            7:32:55 PM

PRESENT:            Mayor Colinas, Councilmember Corpron-Smith, Councilmember Gipson, Councilmember Kaemingk, Councilmember Krienke and Councilmember Nick. Councilmember Gem arrived at 7:33:24 PM .

                        Councilmember Morgan arrived at 7:37:47 PM  

STAFF:            City Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.

 

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Councilmember Kaemingk reminded everyone of the Snohomish County Cities & Towns meeting scheduled for December 6 and what will be discussed at that meeting. RSVP’s will be handled through Paula Swisher, City Clerk-Treasurer.

 

Councilmember Gipson attended the November 1st CT Board meeting.

 

The Executive Session was cancelled due to no City Attorney present.

 

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of October 23, 2007. 7:38:07 PM Councilmember Kaemingk moved, seconded by  Councilmember Gipson, to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of October 23, 2007. 7:38:40 PM Motion carried with Councilmember Morgan abstaining.

 

Public Hearings:

Mayor Colinas opened the Public Hearing on the 2008 Property Tax at 7:39:28 PM. Hal Ross 3309 214th ST SW, asked what the 1% will be used for. Councilmember Krienke moved, seconded by Councilmember Nick, to close the public hearing at 7:41:32 PM Motion carried unanimously. 7:41:41 PM

 

Councilmember Corpron-Smith moved, seconded by Councilmember Morgan, to approve Ordinance 348 taking the 1% increase for the 2008 property tax, as recommended.7:46:23 PM Motion carried unanimously.

 

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials

Councilmember Krienke wanted to discuss the newsletter. He will be absent from next week’s land use training. The Parks and Recreation Board continue to work to identify an off-leash dog area for recommendation to the Council.

 

Councilmember Nick was asked by one of our business district owners to consider changing the size of parking stalls.

 

Councilmember Corpron-Smith has been helping to look at some areas for potential off-leash dog park.

 

Mayor Colinas will be asking you to release the bond for the Murphy Pond next week.

 

Mayor Colinas asked the Council for a 5 minute recess to try to contact our City Attorney. 7:57:42 PM Council reconvened.

 

 

Adjournment

Councilmember  Corpron-Smith moved, seconded by Councilmember Gem, to adjourn to workshop. Mayor Colinas declared the meeting adjourned at 8:04 PM.

2. REVIEW CONTRACT RENEWAL FOR CITY PROSECUTING SERVICES WITH DARYL JOHNSON

3. DISCUSS PRELIMINARY BUDGET 2008.
