BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
January 22, 2008
7:30 pm
Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council
Meeting to order at 7:30:11 PM and
the flag salute was dispensed.
Roll Call:
PRESENT: Mayor Colinas, Councilmembers Krienke,
Nick, Steele, Corpron-Smith, and Gipson. Councilmember Gem arrived at 7:33PM.
ABSENT: Councilmembers Kaemingk.
Reports of
Committees & City Officials:
Councilmember Gipson attended a CT Board
reconstitution meeting on January 17, 2008 and was reappointed to the board for
another 2 years.
Councilmember Gem attended a Library Board meeting
on January 9, 2008.
Councilmember Krienke attended a Planning
Commission meeting on January 16, 2008 and Planning Commissioner Marley was
appointed Chairman and Commissioner Thorpe was appointed Chairman Pro Tem.
Councilmember Corpron-Smith attended a Park Board
meeting on January 9, 2008 and reported that they would like to update the
Bunny costume this year and get an update on the proposed Skate Park. The Park Board also requested to post
information on the website when things, such as the foot bridge in Brierwood,
are damaged.
Councilmember Steele will be attending an all day
training session with AWC for newly elected officials on January 25, 2008.
Councilmember Nick went to the Brier Library
January 19, 2008 and reported to the Council an inspection that he did at the
library.
Approval
of Minutes:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of
the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of January 15, 2008. Councilmember Corpron-Smith moved
and Councilmember Steele seconded
to approve the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of January 15, 2008. Motion
Carried.
Consent
Agenda:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of
the Consent Agenda which includes Brier City Council Minutes of January 8,
2008. Councilmember Gem
moved and Councilmember Gipson
seconded to approve the Consent Agenda which includes Brier City Council
Minutes of January 8, 2008. Motion Carried.
New
Business, Petitions, Communications, Applications & Appeals:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration the
authorization of the Mayor’s signature accepting the Department of Ecology
Stormwater Grant for $75,000.00. Councilmember
Krienke moved and Councilmember Nick seconded to
approve the authorization of the Mayor’s signature accepting the Department of
Ecology Stormwater Grant for $75,000.00.
There was council discussion. Motion Carried.
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration the approval
of Professional Services Agreement with Hammond, Collier, and Wade to update
the Stormwater Management program for the amount of $63,245.00 and authorize
the Mayor’s signature. There was Council discussion. Councilmember Gipson
moved and Councilmember Corpron-Smith
seconded to approve the Professional Services Agreement with Hammond, Collier,

$63,245.00 and authorize the Mayor’s signature. Motion Carried.
Miscellaneous
Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials
Council discussed parks and Park Board
spending. Mayor Colinas told Council
that Councilmember Brian Sullivan from Snohomish County will be meeting with
them in the near future to discuss Snohomish County Tomorrow. Councilmember
Nick discussed the Skate Park.
Councilmember Corpron-Smith requested a workshop on building heights in
Brier. Councilmember Krienke reported on liaisons for the Councilmembers. Councilmember
Gem is appointed to the police department and newsletter, Councilmember Gipson
is appointed to Public Works, Councilmember Krienke is appointed to Land Use
and Utilities, Councilmember Corpron-Smith is appointed to Park Board,
Councilmember Steele is appointed to Library Board, Councilmember Kaemingk is
appointed to Planning Commission and Councilmember Nick is appointed to Budget.
Auditing
of Accounts
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of
the January 2008 Claim Warrants. Councilmember Nick moved and Councilmember Steele seconded to approve the January 2008
Claim Warrants No. 19487 through No. 19505 in the amount of $328,899.22. There
was Council discussion. Motion Carried.
Adjournment
Councilmember
Corpron-Smith moved and Councilmember Steele seconded to
adjourn. Mayor Colinas declared the meeting adjourned at 8:11PM.
