BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

April 22, 2008



Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:33:48 PM  and dispensed with the formalities.

 

Roll Call:                  7:34:17 PM

PRESENT:    Mayor Colinas; Councilmembers Corpron-Smith, Gem, Kaemingk, Krienke, Nick and Steele.

ABSENT:    Councilmember Gipson.

STAFF:    Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.

 

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Councilwoman Steele reported that she, the Mayor and Councilman Krienke attended the audit exit conference.

 

Councilwoman Corpron-Smith attended Park Board meeting on April 9th and a meeting on the 21st that was to be with County Executive Aaron Reardon.

 

Mayor Colinas shared with the Council the good news from the County Executive that he will move forward the interlocal agreement for the funds for our skate park.

 

Councilman Krienke attended the audit exit conference on the 18th and the Planning Commission on the 16th.

 

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of April 15, 2008. Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of April 15, 2008. Councilmember Gem SECONDED

7:49:41 PM Motion Carried 5-0-1, Councilmember Kaemingk abstained.

 

Consent Agenda:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Consent Agenda which includes Brier City Council Minutes of April 8, 2008, Proclamation Declaring April 2008 Disaster Preparedness Month, Proclamation Declaring April as Public Education Month, Proclamation Declaring May 4th through May 10th as Municipal Clerks Week, Proclamation Declaring May 11th through May 17th National Police Week, and 2008/2009 Interlocal Agreement for the Snohomish Regional Drug Task Force. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve the Consent Agenda. Councilmember Gem SECONDED. Motion Carried. 7:51:23 PM 6-0, with abstention by Corpron-Smith for item A the Approval of minutes for April 8th due to absence.

 

 

 

Ordinances, Resolutions & Orders:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of Resolution #503 Declaring Brier to be Military Family Friendly. There was Council discussion. Councilmember Corpron-Smith made a MOTION to approve Resolution #503 Declaring Brier to be Military Family Friendly. 7:53:44 PM. Councilmember Nick SECONDED. Motion Carried 6-0.

 

 

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials

Councilmember Krienke made a MOTION to combine the two totals for billings by Ted Watts in regard to the litigation regarding Tom Evans for a complete authorization of $22,500. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. 7:57:45 PM Motion Carried 6-0.

 

Councilman Kaemingk will be attending the South Snohomish County Cities meeting on Thursday April 24th.

 

Adjournment

Councilmember Kaemingk made a MOTION to adjourn. Councilmember Gem  SECONDED. Mayor Colinas declared the meeting adjourned at.8:01:17 PM
