Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:30:45 PM and the flag salute was given.

ABSENT:    Councilmember Gipson.

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Councilmember Corpron-Smith attended the Park Board meeting on June 11^th. She stated that they are working hard on the Annual SeaScare Parade. In addition, they are working on signage for connecting the park trails.

Councilmember Kaemingk attended the Planning Commission meeting on Wednesday June 18^th. The Commission is working on Comprehensive Plan update information to present to Council in the near future. He will attend the South Snohomish County Cities & Town meeting this coming Thursday June 26^th.

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of June 10, 2008. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of June 10, 2008. Councilmember Krienke SECONDED. 7:40:10 PM. Motion Carried 7-0. None abstained.

Consent Agenda:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the purchase of a Portable Air Compressor from United Rentals in an amount not to exceed $12,149.00 plus tax. Councilmember Kaemingk made a MOTION to approve the purchase of a Portable Air Compressor from United Rentals in an amount not to exceed $12,149.00 plus tax. Councilmember Nick SECONDED.

Hearings:

Mayor Colinas gave a brief overview of the requested Business License #BR08-036 by Tina Hastings located at 23420 Brier Road, Brier. Mayor Colinas opened the Public Hearing at 7:47:11 PM Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to close the Public Hearing 7:48:14 PM. Councilmember Corpron-Smith SECONDED. Councilmember Krienke made a MOTION to approve Business License # BR08-036 by Tina Hastings located at 23420 Brier Road, Brier. Councilmember Nick SECONDED. There was council discussion. 7:57:43 PM. Motion Carried 7-0. None abstained.

New Business, Petitions, Communications, Applications & Appeals:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration authorizing the Mayor to enter into Agreement with P.A.W.S. for Animal Shelter Services. Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve authorizing the Mayor to enter into Agreement with P.A.W.S. for Animal Shelter Services. Councilmember Gem SECONDED. Mayor Colinas opened for consideration authorizing purchase of 4 additional Tasers for the Police Department. Councilmember Gem made a MOTION to approve the purchase of 4 additional Tasers for the Police Department. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. 8:09:03 PM. Motion Carried 7-0. None abstained.

Miscellaneous

Geo Chaser a GPS tracking game is being played within the City and the police were called out to investigate. Officer Kilpatrick did a great job handling the incident.

Councilmember Krienke found a history website that had an essay about how our town came to be.
