BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
October 14, 2008
Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council
Meeting to order at 7:31:04 PM and
the flag salute was given.
Roll Call: 7:31:48 PM
PRESENT: Mayor Colinas; Councilmember Gem,
Gipson, Kaemingk, Krienke, Nick and Steele. Councilmember
Corpron-Smith arrived at 7:32 PM.
STAFF: Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.
Public
Requests & Oral Communications: None
Reports of
Committees & City Officials:
Councilmember Gipson on October 2nd
attended a CT board meeting & on October 4-9 attended the Public Transit
conference.
Councilmember Corpron-Smith attended an October 8th
Park Board meeting the Mayor attended as well. They discussed budget requests
and the Skate Park, she also attended Dog-O-Ween on Saturday the 11th
it was a big success with about 60 people in attendance.
Councilmember Kaemingk thanked everyone for showing
up to the September 25th South Snohomish Cities dinner, we were the
only city with all of their council in attendance.
Councilmember Nick attended a bond investment
seminar on October 8th and on October 11th he reviewed
the claim warrants.

opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of September
23, 2008. Councilmember Kaemingk made a MOTION to approve
the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of September 23, 2008. Councilmember Gipson SECONDED. 7:38:29 PM Motion Carried.
Mayor Colinas
opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of
October 7, 2008. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION approve
Brier City Council Minutes of October 7, 2008.
Councilmember Corpron-Smith SECONDED. 7:39:01 PM Motion Carried, Councilmember Gipson
abstained.
Consent
Agenda:
Mayor Colinas
opened for consideration approval of the Consent Agenda which includes approval
of Surplus of the UPS Battery System and release of Assignment of Funds in the
amount of $7,200 held at Home Street Bank on behalf of Tim Munnis and the
Munnis Short Plat. Councilmember Corpron-Smith made a
MOTION to approve the Consent Agenda which includes Surplus of the UPS
Battery System and release of Assignment of Funds in the amount of $7,200 held
at Home Street Bank on behalf of Tim Munnis and the Munnis Short Plat. Councilmember Gem SECONDED. 7:40:03 PM Motion Carried.
New
Business, Petitions, Communications, Applications & Appeals:
Mayor Colinas
opened for consideration approval of the Construction Bid for Brier Skate Park.
Councilmember Corpron-Smith made a MOTION to approve
the Construction Bid for Brier Skate Park to Wyser Construction in the amount
not to exceed $186,931.96. Councilmember Nick
SECONDED. 7:42:22 PM Motion Carried.
For the record the Appeal of the Sunbrook plat is
currently on hold. There is consideration going on to withdraw the MDNS and
reissue.
Miscellaneous
Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials
Councilmember Steele will be absent next week.
Councilmember Krienke will attend the meeting to
discuss a regional fire authority with Mayor Colinas on Thursday evening. The
Mayor invited any of the Council to attend that were interested.
Auditing
of Accounts
Mayor Colinas
opened for consideration approval of the September 2008 Payroll Warrants. Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve the
September 2008 Payroll Warrants No. 15032 through No. 15092 in the amount of
$121,705.53 with Warrants No. 15063, 15091, 15093-15102 being voided. Councilmember Kaemingk SECONDED. 8:01:02 PM Motion Carried.
Mayor Colinas
opened for consideration approval of the September 2008 Claim Warrants. Councilmember Nick
made a MOTION to approve the September 2008 Claim Warrants No. 19977
through No. 20043 in the amount of $261,541.29.
Councilmember Gem SECONDED. There was Council discussion. 8:03:21 PM Motion Carried.
Councilmember
Nick made a MOTION to approve September 2008 checks no. 9636 through no. 9641
in the amount of $12,421.97. Councilmember Corpron-Smith SECONDED. 8:03:57 PM Motion Carried.

Krienke made a MOTION to adjourn. Councilmember Steele SECONDED.
Mayor Colinas declared the meeting adjourned at 8:04:53 PM PM.
