BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
October 28, 2008
Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council
Meeting to order at 7:30:38 PM and
the flag salute was given.
Roll Call: 7:31:28 PM
PRESENT: Mayor Colinas; Councilmember
Corpron-Smith, Gem, Gipson, Kaemingk, Krienke, Nick and Steele.
STAFF: Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.
Public
Requests & Oral Communications:
Matt Smith 23961 28th Pl. W, he is
asking the Council to withdraw their resolution to oppose commercial service at
Paine Field.
Reports of
Committees & City Officials:
Council members Krienke & Corpron-Smith and
Mayor Colinas attended the Regional Fire Authority meeting on October 16, 2008.
Councilmember Gipson attended the CT finance &
administration committee meeting on the 16th, the CT board workshop
on the 23rd and the CT executive committee meeting on the 27th.
Mayor Colinas informed the Council that he spoke to
Gloria Day Lutheran Church on Sunday at their request for part of their community
day’s program.

opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of October 14,
2008. Councilmember Gipson made a MOTION to approve
the Brier City Council Minutes of October 14, 2008.
Councilmember Krienke SECONDED. 7:49:50 PM Motion Carried.
Mayor Colinas
opened for consideration approval of Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of
October 21, 2008. Councilmember Corpron-Smith made a
MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of October 21, 2008. Councilmember Gem SECONDED. 7:50:23 PM Motion Carried, Councilmember Steele
abstained.

Agenda
Mayor Colinas
opened for consideration to confirm the appointment of Allen Jess to the Park
Board Position No. 1. Councilmember Nick made a
MOTION to approve the appointment of Allen Jess to the Park Board
Position No. 1. Councilmember Corpron-Smith SECONDED.

Hearings:
Mayor Colinas
opened the Public Hearing on 2009 Property Tax at 7:52:58 PM . Councilmember
Krienke made a MOTION to close the Public Hearing. Councilmember Kaemingk SECONDED. The Public Hearing was closed at 7:53:38 PM. Motion Carried.

Business, Petitions, Communications, Applications & Appeals:
Mayor Colinas
opened for consideration to authorize the purchase of Skate Park Equipment from
Northwest Recreation of Washington in the amount of $81,883.79. Councilmember Corpron-Smith made a MOTION to approve
the purchase of Skate Park Equipment from Northwest Recreation of Washington in
the amount of $81,883.79. Councilmember Steele SECONDED.

Ordinances, Resolutions & Orders:
Mayor Colinas
opened for consideration approval of Ordinance No. 357 adopting the 2009
Property Tax. There was Council discussion. Councilmember
Steele made a MOTION to approve No. 357 adopting the 2009 Property Tax. Councilmember Kaemingk SECONDED. 8:03:06 PM Motion Carried.
Miscellaneous
Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials
Councilmember Kaemingk will be
attending the South Snohomish County Cities & Towns meeting this Thursday
the 30th. They will be discussing if the annual dinner to meet with
legislative members from the county and state is still the best way to try to
get our concerns heard.
Mayor
Colinas discussed that next week’s workshop will be primarily budget discussion
with discussion of the approved tree list that Councilmember Corpron-Smith has
been working on.

Mayor Colinas declared the meeting adjourned at 8:16:30 PM .
