BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
February 24, 2009
Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke called the regular Brier City
Council Meeting to order at 7:30:22 PM and the flag salute was given.
Roll Call:
PRESENT: Councilmember Corpron-Smith,
Gem, Gipson, Kaemingk, Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke, Nick and Steele.
ABSENT: Mayor Colinas.
STAFF: Clerk-Treasurer Swisher; City Planner
Gaudette.
Public
Requests & Oral Communications:
Dave Johnson 2711 234th St SW, voiced concerns
about the amount of money that Fire District No. 1 spent on purchasing the
property in Brier, it seems excessive. He wants to make sure that they will
close down the two stations that they had promised to close.
Reports of
Committees & City Officials:
Councilmember Gipson attended the February 20th
dedication of the MLT parking garage and February 23rd he attended a
CT board executive committee meeting.
Councilmember Corpron-Smith attended the February 11th
Park Board meeting, the Park Board voted to ask the Mayor to put the Bobcat
Park playground project out to bid. The Easter egg hunt will be on April 11th.
She would like to re-open the issue of the trail at the end of Locust Creek
Park that has a shared easement with a private residence.
Councilmember Kaemingk attended the February 18th
Planning Commission meeting, he will be attending the Snohomish County Cities &
Towns meeting this Thursday February 26th.
Approval
of Minutes:
Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke opened for consideration approval of the Brier
City Council Minutes of February 10, 2009. Councilmember
Steele made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of
February 10, 2009. Councilmember Gem SECONDED.
Motion Carried.
Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke opened for consideration approval of the Brier
City Council Workshop Minutes of February 17, 2009. Councilmember
Corpron-Smith made a MOTION to approve Brier City Council Minutes
of February 17, 2009. Councilmember Gipson SECONDED.
Motion Carried.
Hearings
Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke opened the discussion regarding Business License
#BR09-002 for Brier Creek Gardens, LLC, located at 21700 Vine Road, by Catie
Corpron-Smith. Councilmember
Corpron-Smith removed herself from the discussion as it is her license.
Councilmember Steele disclosed her personal friendship as well as living within
300 feet of Councilmember Corpron-Smith and gave the audience opportunity to
object to her participation. City
Planner Nicole Gaudette gave a brief overview of the application. Catie
Corpron-Smith discussed her application for her landscape business. Mayor
Pro-Tem Krienke opened the public hearing for the Business License #BR09-002 for
Brier Creek Gardens, LLC, located at 21700 Vine Road, by Catie Corpron-Smith at
8:04:10 PM.
Robert Peterson 21920 Vine Rd, asked about a couple of concerns
regarding this business and why it needs a sign since no one will come to the
home, as well as his concern about if there will be landscape materials that
could contaminate the creek and where they would be stored. Mayor Pro-Tem
Krienke closed the hearing at 8:06:01 PM.
Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve the Business
License for Brier Creek Gardens, LLC, located at 21700 Vine Road, by Catie
Corpron-Smith. Councilmember
Kaemingk SECONDED. There was
Council discussion. Motion Carried.
Councilmember Smith rejoined the Council.

Session: None
Miscellaneous
Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials
City Clerk Swisher handed out a document and
explained the request by a Snohomish County transportation committee to sign on
with other area cities and agencies to get stimulus funding.

Councilmember Corpron-Smith made a MOTION to adjourn. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. Mayor
Pro-Tem Krienke declared the meeting adjourned at 8:16:55 PM.
