Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:31 PM and the flag salute was given.

Roll Call:                 

PRESENT: Mayor Colinas; Councilmember Gem, Gipson, Kaemingk, Nick, Corpron-Smith and Steele. Councilmember Krienke arrived at 7:33 PM.

Public Requests & Oral Communications:

Eric Teegarden 2943 217^th Pl SW brought a free consultation from NW Mechanical whom he works for to have solar panels placed on city hall to conserve energy.

Albert Rutledge 7101 Lake Ballinger Way Edmonds, spoke on the site for the King County jail proposed to be located at 2545 NE 200^th, Shoreline, there are 5 sites proposed. He does not want it brought this close to our respective cities and is looking for the cities to speak up to stop the jail from being located in this area and attend the hearings.

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Councilmember Gem attended the May 4^th safety meeting.

Councilmember Gipson May 7^th attended the CT board meeting.

Councilmember Krienke attended the Brier Library open house.

Councilmember Steele attended the Brier Library open house.

Councilmember Kaemingk attended the Edmonds National Day of Prayer on May 7^th; in addition he attended the Snohomish County Cities meeting on the 7^th here at city hall.

Councilmember Nick reviewed claim warrants on May 9^th.

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of April 28, 2009. Councilmember Gipson MOVED to approve the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of April 28, 2009, SECONDED by Councilmember Gem. Motion Carried.

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of May 5, 2009. Councilmember Gipson MOVED to approve Brier City Council Minutes of May 5, 2009 SECONDED by Councilmember Gem. Motion Carried with Councilmember Corpron-Smith abstained.

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials

Councilmember Gipson will be absent next week.

Auditing of Accounts

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the April 2009 Payroll Warrants. Councilmember Nick MOVED to approve the April 2009 Payroll Warrants No. 15449 through No. 15507 in the amount of $120,657.61 with Warrant No. 15488 being voided, Councilmember Corpron-Smith SECONDED. Motion Carried.

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the April 2009 Claim Warrants. Councilmember Nick MOVED to approve the April 2009 Claim Warrants No. 20478 through No. 20536 in the amount of $308,528.26. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. There was Council discussion. Motion Carried.

Councilmember Nick MOVED to approve April 2009 checks no. 9701 through no. 9711 in the amount of $19,397.66. Councilmember Kaemingk SECONDED. Motion Carried.
