Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:30:06 PM  and the flag salute was given.

Roll Call:                 

PRESENT:          Mayor Colinas; Councilmember Corpron-Smith, Gipson, Kaemingk, Krienke, Nick and Steele.

                        Councilmember Gem arrived at 7:34:30 PM .

Presentation by Stevens Hospital regarding the 2009-2012 strategic plan.

Public Requests & Oral Communications:

Penny Ebright 2411 217^th Pl SW, Kathy Saneto 21683 20^th Pl W, their request is a safety request at Poplar Way and Vine Road to obtain a 4 way stop.

Chuck Nichols 2507 217^th Pl commented on the traffic congestion at the Poplar Way/Vine Road intersection.

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Councilmember Gipson attended the CT board meeting July 2, 2009.

Councilmember Corpron-Smith attended the park board meeting on July 8, 2009.

Councilmember Steele commented on the good teenage worker volunteering at the Library.

Councilmember Nick reviewed the claim warrants on July 12, 2009.

Clerk-Treasurer Swisher shared with the Mayor and Council the pictures from the American Red Cross

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of June 23, 2009. Councilmember Gipson made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of June 23, 2009. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. Motion Carried with Councilmember Krienke abstaining.

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of July 7, 2009. Councilmember Gipson made a MOTION to approve Brier City Council Minutes of July 7, 2009. Councilmember Corpron-Smith SECONDED. Councilmember Motion Carried.

Consent Agenda:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of 2009 Street Overlay Project authorizing up to $120,000.00. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve 2009 Street Overlay Project authorizing up to $120,000.00. Councilmember Gem SECONDED. Motion Carried.

Auditing of Accounts

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the June 2009 Payroll Warrants. Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve the June 2009 Payroll Warrants No. 15563 through No.15619 in the amount of $120,390.82. Councilmember Corpron-Smith SECONDED.  Motion Carried.

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the June 2009 Claim Warrants.  Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve the June 2009 Claim Warrants No. 20593 through No. 20663 in the amount of $164,693.42. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. Motion Carried.

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the June 2009 Checks. Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve June 2009 checks no. 9719 through no. 9731 in the amount of $9,883.12. Councilmember Gem SECONDED. Motion Carried.
