BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

September 8, 2009

Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:31:49 PM  and the flag salute was given.

 

Roll Call:                

PRESENT:                                Mayor Colinas; Councilmember Corpron-Smith, Gem,    Gipson, Kaemingk, Nick and Steele.  Councilmember         Krienke arrived at 7:53:04 PM .

STAFF:                                  City Planner Gaudette.

 

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Councilmember Gipson attended a Community Transit Board meeting on September 1, 2009.

Councilmember Nick reviewed the claim warrants on September 7, 2009.

Mayor Colinas attended a Sno-Com board meeting. He is also a part of the Budget Committee and has asked the Sno-Com board to cut back on their operating budget rather then a double digit increase.

 

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of August 25, 2009. Councilmember Gipson made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of August 25, 2009. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. Motion Carried. Councilmember Corpron-Smith abstained.

 

New Business, Petitions, Communications, Applications & Appeals:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration to review and forward proposed amendments to the Capital Facilities Element of the Comprehensive Plan to the State for their 60 day review. City Planner Gaudette went over the amendments made to the Capital Facilities Element. Councilmember Krienke made a MOTION to approve and forward the proposed amendments to the Capital Facilities Element of the Comprehensive Plan to the State for their 60 day review. Councilmember Kaemingk SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials

Mayor Colinas proposed the idea to install some directional signs for our commercial district. He also invited the Councilmember’s to take a look at the new police vehicle. Mayor Colinas will meet with Wyser Construction on Monday to authorize the start of construction to Bobcat Park.  

Councilmember Kaemingk reviewed the Murphy Detention Vault letter received from Landaue & Associates and has some questions as to why there are so many problems with the failure of the liner considering the expense that originally went into the design.

 

 

 

Auditing of Accounts

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the August 2009 Payroll Warrants. Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve the August 2009 Payroll Warrants No. 15677 through No. 15732 in the amount of $111,597.11. Councilmember Kaemingk SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the August 2009 Claim Warrants. Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve the August 2009 Claim Warrants No. 20727 through No. 20786 in the amount of $273,945.25. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. There was Council discussion. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the August 2009 Checks. Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve August 2009 checks No. 9744 through No. 9749 in the amount of $7,666.40. Councilmember Kaemingk SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Adjournment

Councilmember Kaemingk made a MOTION to adjourn. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. Mayor Colinas declared the meeting adjourned at 8:24:22 PM .
