BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
July 27, 2010
Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council
Meeting to order at 7:30:37 PM and
the flag salute was given.
Roll Call:
PRESENT: Mayor Colinas;
Councilmember Kaemingk, Steele, Gallagher, Olson and Nick.
Councilmember Krienke
arrived at 7:31:49 PM and Councilmember Corpron-Smith arrived at 7:32:08 PM.
STAFF: Clerk-Treasurer
Swisher; City Planner Gaudette.

Councilmember
Steele attended ESCA Board meeting on July 22nd.
Councilmember
Kaemingk hosted South Snohomish Cities meeting on July 1st.
Approval
of Minutes:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City
Council Minutes of July 13, 2010. Councilmember
Steele made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of
July 13, 2010. Councilmember Corpron-Smith SECONDED.
Motion Carried.
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council
Workshop Minutes of July 20, 2010. Councilmember Nick
made a MOTION to approve Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of
July 20, 2010. Councilmember Olson SECONDED.
Motion Carried.
Hearings:
Mayor Colinas opened initial
discussion for the Public Hearing on Home Occupation Business License BR10-048, for
Northwest Auto Glass submitted by Kieu Ho and Hieu Nguyen located at 2998 220th Pl
SW. City Planner Gaudette gave an overview of the application and recommended
approval. Hieu Nguyen described the nature of his business and low impact it
would have on the community.
Mayor Colinas opened the Public Hearing at 7:41:17 PM.

Mike Mose 2994 220th
Pl. voiced his concerns about the presence of
business trucks in front of the home and the neighborhood becoming overrun with
additional businesses.

Ben Link 2979 220th
Pl. SW, mimicked the same concerns as the previous
speaker.
Councilmember Krienke made a MOTION to close the
Public Hearing at 7:45:28 PM. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. Motion Carried.
Councilmember Corpron-Smith made a MOTION to approve Home Occupation Business
License BR10-048, for Northwest Auto Glass submitted by Kieu Ho and Hieu Nguyen
located at 2998 220th
Pl SW, striking the condition recommended by City
Planner Gaudette. Councilmember Krienke SECONDED.
There was Council discussion. Motion
Carried.
New
Business, Petitions, Communications, Applications & Appeals:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration the confirmation of
the Mayor’s appointment of Ron Magnuson to the Park Board, Position No.7, with
a term expiring September 15, 2012. Councilmember Krienke made a MOTION
to approve the confirmation of the Mayor’s appointment of Ron Magnuson to the
Park Board, Position No.7, with a term expiring September 15, 2012.
Councilmember Nick SECONDED. Motion Carried.
Miscellaneous
Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:
Mayor Colinas reported on the detention pond and the additional review
by Nancy Lockett of Gray & Osborne. Councilmember
Kaemingk made a MOTION to authorize the Mayor to spend up to $2,000 from
the Council Contingency Fund to proceed in obtaining Gray & Osborne.
Councilmember Nick SECONDED.
Motion Carried.
Mayor Colinas is working with
three Boy Scouts from our area to do various projects.
Councilmember Krienke will not be
in attendance next week due to vacation.
Councilmember Kaemingk will be
absent the next two weeks due to vacation.
Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to cancel the
August 3, 2010 Council Workshop meeting. Councilmember Olson SECONDED. Motion Carried.
Councilmember Steele mentioned
that the library needs to be weeded.
Councilmember Gallagher asked if
the City has received a letter regarding a tree that was lit on fire over 4th
of July.

Councilmember Gallagher made a MOTION to adjourn.
Councilmember Olson SECONDED. Mayor Colinas declared the meeting adjourned at 8:16:48 PM.
