BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

February 8, 2011

Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:32:07 PM.

 

Roll Call:                 

PRESENT:                                  Mayor Colinas; Councilmember Corpron-Smith, Kaemingk, Krienke, Steele, Gallagher, Olson and Nick.

STAFF:                                       Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.

 

Public Requests & Oral Communications: None

 

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Mayor Colinas announced the achievement of Clerk-Treasurer Paula Swisher receiving her Certified Municipal Clerk status from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.

Councilmember Steele attended the ESCA meeting on January 27th and audited accounts this past weekend.

Councilmember Kaemingk and Mayor Colinas attended the Regional Fire Authority meeting last week.

Councilmember Gallagher attended the first Reading Night Out at Brier Elementary and he appreciated that Chief Lane was in attendance.

 

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of January 25, 2011. Councilmember Kaemingk made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of January 25, 2011. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. Motion Carried. Councilmember Olson abstained.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of February 1, 2011. Councilmember Krienke made a MOTION to approve Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of February 1, 2011. Councilmember Nick SECONDED. Motion Carried. Councilmember Corpron-Smith abstained.

 

New Business, Petitions, Communications, Applications & Appeals:

Mayor Colinas read into record the notification to the public that the City is accepting submittals for Comprehensive Plan amendments until March 31, 2011.

 

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:

Mayor Colinas asked for volunteers for the Regional Fire Authority. Councilmember Kaemingk volunteered as did Councilmember Krienke. Councilmember Corpron-Smith made a MOTION to appoint Councilmembers Kaemingk & Krienke and Mayor Colinas as the City’s representatives for the Regional Fire Authority meetings. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Councilmember Gallagher will be absent March 8th.

Councilmember Steele stated that the library landscaping needs attention.

Mayor Colinas stated that we had a donation of a telephone pole to replace the one that disappeared on 228th Street and it will cost very little to have it installed.

 

Auditing of Accounts:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the January 2011 Payroll Checks. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve the January 2011 Payroll Checks No. 17526 through No. 17578 in the amount of $121,085.90. Councilmember Nick SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the January 2011 Claim Checks.  Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve the January 2011 Claim Checks No. 21991 through No. 22055 in the amount of $152,922.15. Councilmember Corpron-Smith SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the January 2011 Checks. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve the January 2011 Checks No. 9917 through No. 9936 in the amount of $9,793.00. Councilmember Krienke SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Adjournment:

Councilmember Corpron-Smith made a MOTION to adjourn. Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED. Mayor Colinas adjourn the meeting at 7:54:40 PM.
