BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

October 25, 2011


Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:30:25 PM and dispensed with the flag salute.

 

Roll Call:                 

PRESENT:                                  Mayor Colinas; Councilmember Kaemingk, Krienke, Steele, Gallagher, Olson and Nick.

                                                  Councilmember Corpron-Smith arrived at7:34:51 PM.

STAFF:                                       Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.

 

Public Requests & Oral Communications: None.

 

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Councilmember Kaemingk attended the Planning Commission meeting on October 19th.

Councilmember Steele attended the audit entrance conference on October 13th.

Councilmember Krienke attended the Parks Board meeting on October 12th, and the RFA level of service meeting on October 13th.

 

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of October 11, 2011. Councilmember Gallagher made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of October 11, 2011. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of October 11, 2011. Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve Brier City Council Minutes of October 11, 2011. Councilmember Corpron-Smith SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of October 18, 2011. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve Brier City Council Minutes of October 18, 2011. Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

New Business, Petitions, Communications, Applications & Appeals:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration the confirmation of the Mayor’s re-appointment of John Szalda to the Civil Service Commission for a term set to expire October 31, 2017. Councilmember Corpron-Smith made a MOTION to approve the confirmation of the Mayor’s re-appointment of John Szalda to the Civil Service Commission for a term set to expire October 31, 2017. Councilmember Olson SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

 

Hearings:

Mayor Colinas opened the Public Hearing on Ordinance #393 levying the General Taxes for the City of Brier for the year 2012 at 7:40:11 PM. There was no public comment. Councilmember Kaemingk made a MOTION to close the Public Hearing. Councilmember Olson SECONDED. Motion Carried. Mayor Colinas closed the Public Hearing at 7:41:14 PM.

 

 

Ordinances, Resolutions & Orders:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration the decision regarding Ordinance #393 levying the General Taxes for the City of Brier for the year 2012. Councilmember Kaemingk made a MOTION to approve Ordinance #393 levying the General Taxes for the City of Brier for the year 2012. Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration the decision regarding Resolution #528 adopting a policy for Public Funds Deposit. Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve Resolution #528 adopting a policy for Public Funds Deposit. Councilmember Olson SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:

Mayor Colinas sent the newsletter out and asked for Council input. Council agreed it can move forward.

 

Councilmember Gallagher, Krienke & Nick gave kudos for the Dog-o-ween festivities.

 

Councilmember Olson wanted it noted for the record that the candidate running against our current councilmember for position #6 has not attended any of our meetings since filing for office in June.

 

Mayor Colinas commented that he still has not heard back from the police union to continue negotiations.
