BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

April 10, 2012

Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:04:03 PM  and the flag salute was given.

 

Roll Call:                 

PRESENT:                                  Mayor Colinas; Councilmember Kaemingk, Krienke, Steele, Gallagher, Olson, Nick and Joplin.

STAFF:                                       Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.

 

Public Requests & Oral Communications:

 

Don Watson, Brier – received the stormwater brochure and wanted to bring it to our attention that the garbage company trucks leave a sheen of hydraulic oil on our roads every time they use their lift. The lot across the street from his home is overgrown with blackberry bushes and grass up to the ditch and roadway and needs maintenance from our public works crew. He thanked the Mayor and Council for their service and commitment to the city.

 

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

 

Councilmember Krienke attended the RFA general meeting on April 4th.

Councilmember Steele reviewed the claim checks on April 8th.

Councilmember Kaemingk attended the RFA general meeting on April 4th.

Mayor Colinas reported that we will be setting up some mediation dates with the police union.

 

Approval of Minutes:

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of March 27, 2012. Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of March 27, 2012. Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of April 3, 2012. Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of April 3, 2012. Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Consent Agenda:

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Consent Agenda which includes the Sunbrook refund of $28,200 for the Tree Replacement Deposit. Councilmember Kaemingk made a MOTION to approve of the Consent Agenda which includes the Sunbrook refund of $28,200 for the Tree Replacement Deposit. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

 

New Business, Petitions, Communications, Applications & Appeals:

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval for the Schrader Tree Bond release in the amount of $11,700. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve the Schrader Tree Bond release in the amount of $11,700. Councilmember Krienke SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Ordinances, Resolutions & Orders:

 

Mayor Colinas opened for approval the approval of Resolution No. 534, establishing the part-time and seasonal/temporary employee classification and salary plan. Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve Resolution No. 534, establishing the part-time and seasonal/temporary employee classification and salary plan. Councilmember Olson SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:

 

Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to cancel the April 17th workshop meeting due to lack of business. Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas reported that he has been working with the librarian to make arrangements to replace the bathroom floors preferably with tile to match the entry. He updated the Council on grants that we are applying for to secure safe routes to school and crosswalk signals.

 

Councilmembers Gallagher, Steele and Nick congratulated the Parks Board on another great event with the Easter egg hunt. Councilmember Krienke was thanked as well for his help with the event and taking the pictures.

 

Auditing of Accounts

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the March 2012 Payroll Checks. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve the March 2012 Payroll Checks No. 18300 through No. 18351 in the amount of $121,041.40. Councilmember Nick SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the March 2012 Claim Checks.  Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve the March 2012 Claim Checks No. 22838 through No. 22886 in the amount of $243,211.52 and voided Check No. 22783. Councilmember Olson SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the March 2012 Checks. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve March 2012 Checks No. 10050 through No. 10059 in the amount of $8,834.50. Councilmember Joplin SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Adjournment

Councilmember Olson made a MOTION to adjourn. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. Mayor Colinas declared the meeting adjourned at 7:44:33 PM .
