BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

June 12, 2012

Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:00:34 PM and dispensed with the flag salute.

 

Roll Call:                 

PRESENT:                                  Mayor Colinas; Councilmember Kaemingk, Krienke, Steele, Gallagher, Olson, Nick and Joplin.

STAFF:                                       Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.

 

Public Requests & Oral Communications: None.

 

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Councilmember Kaemingk attended the RFA meeting on June 6th.

Councilmember Krienke attended the RFA meeting on June 6th.

Councilmember Steele attended the May 31st ESCA meeting and reviewed the claims on June 10th.

 

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of May 22, 2012. Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of May 22, 2012. Councilmember Krienke SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

New Business, Petitions, Communications, Applications & Appeals:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Mayor’s Signature on the Department of Corrections contract renewal for July 2012 through June 2013. Councilmember Gallagher made a MOTION to approve the Mayor’s Signature on the Department of Corrections contract renewal for July 2012 through June 2013. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Mayor’s Signature on the Renewal Agreement for Jail Services with Okanogan County Jail. Councilmember Kaemingk made a MOTION to approve the Mayor’s Signature on the Department of Corrections contract renewal for July 2012 through June 2013 Renewal Agreement for Jail Services with Okanogan County Jail. Councilmember Nick SECONDED. Motion Carried

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Mayor’s Signature on the Renewal Agreement for Jail Services with the City of Sunnyside. Councilmember Gallagher made a MOTION to approve the Mayor’s Signature on the Renewal Agreement for Jail Services with the City of Sunnyside. Councilmember Olson SECONDED. Motion Carried

 

 

 

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:

Mayor Colinas informed the Council that we are down one full-time employee in public works due to an injury and we will attempt to keep our heads above water during this summer season.

 

Mayor Colinas will be meeting with a group of folks who are interested in possibly annexing into the city.

 

Mayor Colinas met with Congressman Larson and invited him to SnoCom to encourage him to try to get funding for our services to help the area cities.

 

Councilmember Gallagher wanted to thank the Chief & our Officers for attending the Brier Elementary School Carnival.

 

Councilmember Olson asked why they have not received the police beat in months and what is going on with the burned out house on 29th, people have inquired about both issues with him.

 

Auditing of Accounts:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the May 2012 Payroll Checks. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve the May 2012 Payroll Checks No. 18404 through No. 18455 in the amount of $126,152.81. Councilmember Nick SECONDED.  Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the May 2012 Claim Checks.  Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve the May 2012 Claim Checks No. 22959 through No. 23012 in the amount of $200,417.94 with voided Check No. 23002. Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the May 2012 Checks. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve the May 2012 Checks No. 10066 through No. 10070 in the amount of $51,353.76. Councilmember Olson SECONDED. Motion Carried.
