BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
June 11, 2013
Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council
Meeting to order at 7:00:11 PM
and the flag salute was given.
Roll Call: PRESENT: Mayor Colinas; Councilmember Kaemingk, Krienke, Steele,
Gallagher, Olson, Nick and Joplin.

Requests & Oral Communications: None
Reports of
Committees & City Officials:
Councilmember Steele reviewed the claims on June 8th,
2013.
Councilmember Joplin attended the Public Health
Meeting on June 11th, 2013.
Approval
of Minutes:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City
Council Minutes of May 28, 2013. Councilmember Nick
made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of May
28, 2013. Councilmember Olson SECONDED. Motion
Carried.
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City
Council Workshop Minutes of June 4, 2013. Councilmember
Gallagher made a MOTION to approve Brier City Council Workshop
Minutes of June 4, 2013. Councilmember Steele SECONDED.
Motion Carried.
New
Business, Petitions, Communications, Applications & Appeals:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration the authorization of
the Mayor’s signature on the amendment to the Public Defender Contract.
Councilmember Krienke made a MOTION to amend the Public Defender
Contract to extend an additional two months from June 30th to August
31st. Councilmember Nick SECONDED. Motion Carried.
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration the authorization of
the expenditure for Pace Engineering to perform GIS updates for the NPDES
permit and funded by the Department of Ecology Grant. Ken Nielson from PACE was
in attendance to answer any of the Councils questions. Councilmember Steele
made a MOTION to authorize the expenditure in the amount of $30,980,
which includes any optional work, for Pace Engineering to perform GIS updates
for the NPDES permit and funded by the Department of Ecology Grant.
Councilmember Joplin SECONDED 7:14:23 PM. Motion Carried.
Public
Hearings:
Mayor Colinas opened the Public Hearing for the
adoption of Resolution No. 540, adopting the Six Year Comprehensive Street Plan
for 2014-2019 at 7:15:36 PM. There was no public in attendance. Mayor
Colinas closed the public hearing at 7:16:15 PM.
Ordinances,
Resolutions & Orders:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration the adoption of Resolution No.
540, adopting the Six Year Comprehensive Street Plan for 2014-2019. Councilmember Kaemingk made a MOTION to adopt
Resolution No. 540, adopting the Six Year Comprehensive Street Plan for
2014-2019. Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED. Motion Carried.
Miscellaneous
Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:
Mayor Colinas distributed copies of the signed bargaining negotiation
contract from the Police. Councilmember Olson made a MOTION
to authorize the Mayor’s signature on the Police Contract. Councilmember Nick SECONDED. Motion Carried. 7:19:28 PM
Mayor Colinas and Councilmember Nick will meet with the Park
Board on Thursday June 13th.
Mayor Colinas shared that the Coast Guard will not be able
to participate in our community activities due to budget cut backs.
Councilmember Gallagher made a MOTION to cancel the
June 18th Workshop Meeting. Councilmember Nick SECONDED. Motion Carried.
Councilmember Steele saw fireworks in the City Park
this past weekend and wanted to confirm that fireworks were not allowed in City
Parks.
Council discussed removing the sequoia tree located
in front of City Hall per Seattle City Light.
Auditing
of Accounts:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the May 2013 Payroll
Checks. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve
the May 2013 Payroll Checks No. 25721 through No. 25784 in the amount of
$121,764.30 with Check No. 25779 being voided. Councilmember
Nick SECONDED. Motion Carried.
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the May 2013 Claim
Checks. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve
the May 2013 Claim Checks No. 25741 through No. 25749 and No. 25786 through No.
25841, and No. 25861 in the amount of $314,698.54 with Check No. 25813 being
voided. Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED. Motion
Carried.

Mayor Colinas declared the meeting adjourned at 7:45:29 PM.
