BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
August 6, 2013
Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council
Meeting to order at 7:36:45 PM.
Roll Call:
PRESENT: Mayor Colinas;
Councilmember Krienke, Gallagher, Olson, Nick and Joplin.
ABSENT: Councilmember
Kaemingk and Steele.
STAFF: Clerk-Treasurer
Swisher.
Public

Reports of
Committees & City Officials:
Councilmember Joplin attended the Snohomish County
Department of Health sub-committee meeting on July 31st.
Approval
of Minutes:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City
Council Minutes of July 23, 2013. Councilmember Nick
made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of July
23, 2013. Councilmember Olson SECONDED.
Motion Carried.
New
Business, Petitions, Communications, Applications & Appeals:
Mayor Colinas opened for discussion and consideration the
purchase of Crosswalk lights for 216th & Poplar Way and 236th and Brier Road. Councilmember
Nick made a MOTION to approve the purchase of Crosswalk lights for 216th
& Poplar Way
and 236th and Brier
Road from Coral Sales Company in an amount not to
exceed $10,000.00. Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED. Motion Carried.
Mayor Colinas opened for discussion and consideration the purchase
of two trucks from the City of Mountlake
Terrace in an amount not to exceed $26,500.00. Councilmember
Olson made a MOTION to approve the purchase of two trucks from the City
of Mountlake Terrace
in an amount not to exceed $26,500.00. Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED.
Motion Carried.
Consideration
of BIDS, L.I.D.S & Related Matters:
Mayor Colinas opened consideration of the BIDS for the Locust Creek
Park project. Councilmember Krienke made a MOTION to approve
the bid by Danneko Construction for the base bid of $127,020.00 and additive
bid of $10,950.00 and included a contingency for up to a total of $150,000.00
and authorization of the Mayor’s signature on the subsequent contract. Councilmember Nick SECONDED. Motion Carried.
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration the Pace Engineering Supplement
#1 for the Scriber
Creek Bridge
project to increase the contract by $6,398.00. Councilmember
Gallagher made a MOTION to approve the Pace Engineering
Supplement #1 for the Scriber
Creek Bridge
project to increase the contract by $6,398.00.
Councilmember Joplin SECONDED. Motion Carried.
Miscellaneous
Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:
Mayor Colinas discussed Ordinance No. 413 regarding amending sewer
system connection charges. Councilmember Joplin made
a MOTION to approve Ordinance No. 413 amending sewer system connection
charges. Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED. Motion Carried.
Mayor Colinas discussed the Agreement for Public
Defender Services.
Councilmember Krienke asked about some alder trees
that are adjacent to his property and the property being developed next door to
his home.
Councilmember Gallagher asked about the status of
the delinquent sewer accounts.
