BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

October 8, 2013

Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:00:03 PM and the flag salute was given.

 

Roll Call:                 

PRESENT:                                  Mayor Colinas; Councilmember Kaemingk, Krienke, Steele, Gallagher, Olson and Nick.

ABSENT:                                    Councilmember Joplin.

STAFF:                                       Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.

 

Public Requests & Oral Communications:

Don Watson, Brier –stated that he is endorsing Bob Colinas for Mayor of Brier; he feels his experience in municipal government makes him the best candidate. In addition, he stated that the 3B sewer project that was done in the late 70s was one of the most horrific times in Brier history as the City was cheated and the construction was not done properly. The contractor Diade Construction gave erroneous as-built drawings to the City and recently Mr. Watson was a victim of these poor drawings when trying to sell a piece of property. 7:04:04 PM

 

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Councilmember Steele reviewed the claim checks on October 5th.

 

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of September 24, 2013. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of September 24, 2013. Councilmember Nick SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of October 1, 2013. Councilmember Gallagher made a MOTION to approve Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of October 1, 2013. Councilmember Olson SECONDED. Motion Carried with Councilmember Steele abstaining.

 

New Business, Petitions, Communications, Applications & Appeals:

Mayor Colinas read into the record the proclamation declaring October as fire prevention month.

 

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:

Mayor Colinas reviewed the Park Board recommendation for the new play equipment at Brier Park.

Councilmember Steele commented that our parks could use more benches and the garbage at Brierwood Park was full this weekend and the doggie bags were empty.

 

Auditing of Accounts:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the September 2013 Payroll Checks. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve the September 2013 Payroll Checks No. 26230 through No.26254 and Checks #26261 through #26292 in the amount of $138,549.72. Councilmember Nick SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the September 2013 Claim Checks.  Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve the September 2013 Claim Checks No. 26223 through No. 26229, #26255 through #26260 and #26293 through #26348 in the amount of $268,964.69. Councilmember Olson SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Adjournment:

Mayor Colinas declared the meeting adjourned at 7:37:43 PM.
