BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
September 23, 2014
Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke called the regular Brier City
Council Meeting to order at 7:00:14 PM and the flag salute was given.
Roll Call:
PRESENT: Councilmember
Gallagher, Krienke, Nick, Olson and Steele.
ABSENT: Mayor Colinas;
Councilmember Joplin and Kaemingk.
STAFF: City
Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.
Public
Requests & Oral Communications:
Lisa Thompson of Brier would like to request that
speed bumps be looked at to be put in on 214th Place off of Oak Way
before you get to Elm; she asked about archery being allowed in city limits, a
neighbor set up archery practice in their front yard with no fence to protect
her and her family from a missed target.
Lee Sweeney of Brier would like to address the
speed coming from Oak Way
onto their cul-de-sac of 214th
Place; she was hit in broad daylight last year
while crossing the street.
Kathy Konkle of Brier
loves living in Brierwood except for the one house on their street 214th
Place, they street race at four in the morning, they invite friends over and
the friends speed into the neighborhood and wake everyone.
Larry Sweeney of Brier has lived on 214th Place
for 28 years; he’s concerned with the general safety of everyone living on the
street and asked that a speed bump be placed within about 50 feet of the
entrance to their cul-de-sac.
Reports of
Committees & City Officials:
Councilmember Gallagher attended the Library Board
meeting on September 10th.
Councilmember Steele met with the ESCA attorney on
September 17th; she met with the interim director on September 18th
and attended the September 25th ESCA board meeting.
Councilmember Nick attended the Park Board meeting
on September 10th.
Approval
of Minutes:
Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke opened for consideration approval of the Brier
City Council Minutes of September 9, 2014. Councilmember
Nick made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of
September 9, 2014. Councilmember Olson SECONDED.
Motion Carried.
Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke opened for consideration approval of the Brier
City Council Workshop Minutes of September 16, 2014. Councilmember
Gallagher made a MOTION to approve Brier City Council Workshop
Minutes of September 16, 2014. Councilmember Steele SECONDED.
Motion Carried.
Consent
Agenda:
Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke opened for consideration the consent agenda which
includes authorization of the Mayor’s signature and approval of the amendments
to the Sunnyside Jail Contract and authorization of the Mayor’s signature and
approval of the expenditure for tree removal by Best Tree Service in an amount
not to exceed $3,625 plus Washington
State sales tax. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve
authorization of the Mayor’s signature and approval of the amendments to the

exceed $3,625 plus Washington
State sales tax. Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED. Motion
Carried.
Ordinances,
Resolutions & Orders:
Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke opened for consideration of
Resolution No. 551, adopting the five priorities of the Brier City Council for
the 2015 Legislative Session. Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to
approve Resolution No. 551, adopting the five priorities of the Brier City
Council for the 2015 Legislative Session. Councilmember Olson SECONDED.
There was Council discussion. Motion Carried.

Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials: None.
