BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
June 23, 2015
Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council
Meeting to order at 7:00:11 PM and the flag salute was given.
Roll Call:
PRESENT: Mayor Colinas;
Councilmember Gallagher, Joplin, Kaemingk, Nick, Olson and Steele.
ABSENT: Councilmember
Krienke.
STAFF: City
Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.
Public
Requests & Oral Communications:
Ken Yohe, Brier, asked if
there can be bark or weed control brought into the area across from his home;
he also asked about the meeting being held this coming Friday about lateral
police officers; he also stated that the fireworks have already started up and
he asked that we manage the safe and sane fireworks.
Reports of
Committees & City Officials:
Councilmember Steele commented that this Thursday
the vote will be taken to dissolve ESCA. She stated that she has the resolution
for the Great American Shake Out that will be held October 15th. She
discussed the other cities with Paw Patrol programs.
Councilmember Kaemingk attended the June 17th
Planning Commission meeting.
Councilmember Joplin discussed that the Snohomish
County Health district gets a fair amount of their funding from the State of
Washington so they are facing a shortfall with the impending State shut down.
The Board voted to allow the use of reserve funds to get through the shut down
period.

of Minutes:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City
Council Minutes of June 9, 2015. Councilmember Nick
made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of June
9, 2015. Councilmember Steele SECONDED.
Motion Carried.
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City
Council Workshop Minutes of June 16, 2015. Councilmember
Gallagher made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council
Workshop Minutes of June 16, 2015. Councilmember
Joplin SECONDED. Motion Carried.
Consent
Agenda:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the consent agenda
which includes approval of the contract renewal for engineering services with
Pace Engineering and approval to renew the Snohomish County Drug Task Force
Interlocal Agreement. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION
to approve the contract renewal for engineering services with Pace
Engineering and to renew the Snohomish County Drug Task Force Interlocal
Agreement. Councilmember Nick SECONDED. Motion
Carried.
Unfinished
Business:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration of purchasing exercise stations
around Brier Park pathway. Councilmember
Nick made a MOTION to approve the purchase of Health Beat exercise
equipment from Play Creations in an amount up to $12,000 to include
installation costs. Councilmember Olson SECONDED. Motion Carried.

Councilmember Olson asked about the water leak on Brier Road.
