BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
September 8, 2015
Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council
Meeting to order at 7:00:29 PM and the flag salute was given.
Roll Call:
PRESENT: Mayor Colinas;
Councilmember Gallagher, Kaemingk, Krienke, Nick, Olson and Steele.
ABSENT: Councilmember
Joplin.
STAFF: City
Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.
Public
Requests & Oral Communications:
Tony Corrado, Brier, had
a question about the tree mitigation fund. Mayor Colinas stated that the best
way to answer his question is for him to come in and meet with City Planner
Gaudette and the Mayor.
Jeanne Moscoso, Brier,
had a question about us not having our own police department in the future. Her
opinion is that we have a strong police department and it is nice to have our
own dedicated staff.
Reports of
Committees & City Officials:
Councilmember Gallagher will attend the Library
Board meeting tomorrow evening September 9th.
Councilmember Steele reviewed the claim checks on
September 5th. The second Brier on the Move challenge began as of
today.
Councilmember Nick will attend the Parks Board
meeting tomorrow evening September 9th.
Approval
of Minutes:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City
Council Minutes of August 11, 2015. Councilmember
Nick made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of
August 11, 2015. Councilmember Olson SECONDED.
Motion Carried.
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City
Council Minutes of August 25, 2015. Councilmember
Gallagher made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes
of August 25, 2015. Councilmember Steele SECONDED.
Motion Carried.
Public
Hearings:
Mayor Colinas gave an overview of Ordinance No.
426, relating to the critical area protections and amending chapter 18.20 prior
to the Public Hearing. Mayor Colinas opened the public hearing at 7:17:41 PM. The public hearing was closed at 7:18:10 PM.
Ordinances,
Resolutions & Orders
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of Ordinance No. 426,
relating to the critical area protections and amending chapter 18.20. Councilmember Kaemingk made a MOTION to approve
Ordinance No. 426, relating to critical area protections and amending chapter
18.20. Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED.
Motion Carried.
Miscellaneous
Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials
Mayor Colinas stated that we do not have any other business for our
workshop next week except looking at renewal of various agreements such as the
prosecutor, public defender and PAWS and that they will be updated before the
end of the year. He asked if the Council would like to review these agreements
or if they would like to cancel the meeting. Councilmember
Gallagher made a MOTION to cancel the Brier City Council Workshop of
September 15, 2015. Councilmember Olson SECONDED. Motion Carried.
Councilmember Olson thanked the Public Works
department for all the hard work they did to address the issues caused by our
big wind storm.
Councilmember Steele asked if there is a plan to
add more gravel to the road behind the gazebo in Brier Park.
She also mentioned needing to add a dog waste station at Locust Creek
Park.
Auditing
of Accounts:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the August 2015
Payroll Checks. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION
to approve the August 2015 Payroll Checks No. 29006 through No. 29023 and
No. 29077 through No. 29102 in the amount of $128,731.54. Councilmember Nick SECONDED. Motion Carried.
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the August 2015 Claim
Checks. Councilmember
Steele made a MOTION to approve the August 2015 Claim Checks No.
29131 through No. 29196 in the amount of $438,711.54.
Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED. Motion Carried.
Adjournment

declared the meeting adjourned at 7:26:39 PM.
