BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

June 28, 2016

Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:01:39 PM.

 

Roll Call:

PRESENT:                                  Mayor Colinas; Councilmember Gallagher, Joplin, Kaemingk, Nick, Olson and Steele.

ABSENT:                                    Councilmember Krienke.

STAFF:                                       City Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.

 

Public Requests & Oral Communications: None.

 

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Councilmember Olson and Kaemingk attended police negotiations on June 22nd.

Councilmember Gallagher attended the Planning Commission meeting on June 15th.

 

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of May 24, 2016. Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of May 2016. Councilmember Olson SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of June 14, 2016. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of June 14, 2016. Councilmember Kaemingk SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of June 21, 2016. Councilmember Gallagher made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of May 2016. Councilmember Joplin SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Consent Agenda:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration authorization of the repairs for the Vactor & Sweeper in an amount up to $23,000.00, utilizing available grant funding from Department of Ecology for partial reimbursement. Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve authorization of the repairs for the Vactor & Sweeper in an amount up to $23,000.00, utilizing available grant funding from Department of Ecology for partial reimbursement. Councilmember Olson SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

New Business, Petitions, Communications, Application Appeals:

Mayor Colinas opened for Council consideration to appoint a hearing examiner, pursuant to Brier Municipal Code 1.32.080 right of appeal, to hear the Administrative Appeal filed by Paul Schroeder for violations of BMC 8.12.040, 17.24.010(B), 17.48.020.(A, B, &E), 17.48.040 (G, I & K). Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to appoint a hearing examiner to hear the appeal filed by Paul Schroeder. Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Ordinances, Resolutions & Orders

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of Ordinance No. 437 amending sewer service charges. Councilmember Kaemingk made a MOTION to approve Ordinance No. 437 amending sewer service charges. Councilmember Nick SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials

Mayor Colinas discussed that Fire District No. 1 and the City of Lynnwood Fire Department will be melding their management and allowing the Lynnwood Fire Chief to run both departments as they look to work together in the future.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration the cancellation of the July 5th, 2016 workshop meeting. Councilmember Kaemingk made a MOTION to approve the cancellation of the July 5th, 2016 workshop meeting. Councilmember Joplin SECONDED. Motion carried.

 

Councilmember Steele commented that Brier Park is very well used, she is over there a lot and there are people using all the different equipment.
