Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:01:35 PM.

Roll Call:

PRESENT:                                  Mayor Colinas; Councilmember Gallagher, Kaemingk, Krienke, Nick, Olson and Steele.

ABSENT:                                    Councilmember Joplin.

STAFF:                                       City Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.

Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to excuse Councilmember Joplin’s absence. Councilmember Krienke SECONDED. Motion Carried.

Public Requests & Oral Communications: None.

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Councilmember Steele came in on January 7^th and reviewed the claim checks.

Councilmember Kaemingk will attend the library board meeting tomorrow January 11^th. He will also attend an interview tomorrow evening. He also attended the January 3^rd police negotiations.

Councilmember Nick will attend the parks board meeting tomorrow January 11^th.

Councilmember Olson attended the January 3^rd police negotiations.

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of December 13, 2016. Councilmember Gallagher made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of December 13, 2016. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. Motion Carried.

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of January 3, 2017. Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of January 3, 2017. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. Motion Carried.

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:

Mayor Colinas opened consideration of Mayor Pro-Tem appointment for 2017. Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to nominate Councilmember Krienke as Mayor Pro-Tem for 2017. Councilmember Olson SECONDED. Motion Carried.

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration appointment to the SnoCom Board. Councilmember Kaemingk made a MOTION to appoint Mayor Colinas as the representative to the SnoCom Board. Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED. Motion Carried.

Councilmember Kaemingk made a MOTION to appoint Chief Catlett as the alternate to the SnoCom Board. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. Motion Carried.

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration appointment to SERS Board. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to appoint Mayor Colinas as the representative to the SERS Board. Councilmember Olson SECONDED. Motion Carried.

Councilmember Olson made a MOTION to appoint Chief Catlett as the alternate to the SERS Board. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. Motion Carried.

Auditing of Accounts:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the December 2016 Payroll Checks. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve the December 2016 Payroll Checks No. 30944 through No. 30964 and No. 31036 through No. 31069 and No. 31088 through No. 31092 in the amount of $153,576.86, with voided Checks No. 29824, 29924, 30068, 30188 and 30317. Councilmember Nick SECONDED. Motion Carried.

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the December 2016 Claim Checks.  Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve the December 2016 Claim Checks No. 31093 through No. 31151 in the amount of $169,381.89. Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED. Motion Carried.

Executive Session:

Mayor Colinas called for an Executive Session pursuant to RCW 42.30.140 at 7:17:50 PM for 20 minutes. Mayor Colinas called the meeting back to order at 7:47:56 PM.

Mayor Colinas discussed issues that may arise for the next week’s workshop meeting.
