BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

February 28, 2017

PRESENT: Mayor Colinas, Councilmembers Kaemingk, Nick, Krienke, Joplin, Gallagher and Steele.

ABSENT: Councilmember Olsen.

Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:00:42 PM and the flag salute was given.

 

Roll Call:

PRESENT:                                  Mayor Colinas; Councilmember Gallagher, Kaemingk, Krienke, Nick, Olson and Steele.

ABSENT:                                    Councilmember Joplin.

STAFF:                                       City Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.

     

Public Requests & Oral Communications:

Julie O’Donald, Brier, gave an update regarding the Brier Wildlife Habitat project.

 

Tony Coraddo, Brier, asked what it would take to get a reduced speed limit on their street located in the Skyline Hills area.

 

Guy Flescher, Brier, questioned about the absence of sidewalks helping to contribute to the speed limit being lowered. He also remarked that he just launched a Birds of Brier Facebook page and it is already very successful and it will help to meet some of the Brier Wildlife Habitat certifications.

 

Carrie Coble, Brier, remarked that she too would like to see the speed limit reduced in the Skyline Hills development.

 

Jacob Boutcher, Brier, remarked that a Brier Fireworks page has begun to try and get fireworks back in the city.

 

Margaret Bianco, Brier, they are doing a petition to try and bring the fireworks back.

 

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Hunter Hendrickson, Park Board Member, gave a report regarding Music in the Park.

 

Councilmember Kaemingk and Krienke attended the Police negotiations meeting on February 22nd.

 

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of February 14, 2017.   Councilmember Nick made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of February 14, 2017. Councilmember Steele SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

 

Public Hearings:

Mayor Colinas opened the Public Hearing on Ordinance 424.A to consider adoption of the Transportation Element Update for the 2015 Comprehensive Plan at 7:57:53 PM.

 

Mayor Colinas closed the Public Hearing at 7:58:32 PM.

 

Ordinances, Resolutions & Orders

Mayor Colinas opened to consider approval of Ordinance 424.A adopting the Transportation Element for the 2015 Comprehensive Plan. Councilmember Krienke made a MOTION to approve Ordinance No 424.A, adopting the Transportation Element for the 2015 Comprehensive Plan. Councilmember Kaemingk SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials

Mayor Colinas suggested that the workshop meeting of March 7th be cancelled. Councilmember Krienke made a MOTION to cancel the Brier City Council Workshop meeting of March 7th. Councilmember Olson SECONDED. Motion Carried.

 

Councilmember Nick has received multiple calls asking how the Governor’s decision to make this a sanctuary state will affect the City of Brier.

Mayor Colinas declared the meeting adjourned at 8:10:03 PM.
