Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:00:22 PM and the flag salute was given.

Roll Call:

PRESENT: Mayor Colinas; Councilmember Gallagher, Joplin, Kaemingk, Krienke, Nick and Steele. Bob Thorpe joined the Council on the dais after the recess at 7:39PM.

VACANT: Council Position #1.

STAFF: City Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.

Public Requests & Oral Communications: None.

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Councilmember Nick will attend the Parks Board meeting tomorrow evening April 12^th.

Councilmember Steele reviewed the claim checks on April 8^th.

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of March 28, 2017. Councilmember Joplin made a MOTION to approve the Brier City Council Minutes of March 28, 2017. Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED. Motion carried.

New business, Petitions, Communications, Application Appeals

Mayor Colinas opened consideration of the letters of interest received to fill the vacancy of Council Position #1. Mayor Colinas invited Bob Thorpe to speak to the Council and there was Council discussion regarding his interest in the position. Mayor Colinas invited Ramona McDowell Wijaratne to speak to the Council and there was Council discussion regarding her interest in the position. There was Council discussion. Councilmember Gallagher made a MOTION to appoint Bob Thorpe to fill the interim position. Councilmember Nick SECONDED. Motion Carried.

Mayor Colinas asked for a recess for the oath to be administered to Bob Thorpe for approximately 15 minutes 7:24:30 PM. The Council returned from recess at 7:39:08 PM. Councilmember Thorpe took the open seat at the dais.

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials

Councilmember Gallagher asked if the sidewalk and the walking path would be connected at some point in front of city hall.

Councilmember Nick reminded everyone of the egg hunt on Saturday morning at 10AM.

Auditing of Accounts

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the March 2017 Payroll Checks. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve the March 2017 Payroll Checks No. 31449 through 31467 and No. 31490 through 31523 in the amount of $146,021.79. Councilmember Nick SECONDED. Motion Carried.

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the March 2017 Claim Checks. Councilmember Steele made a MOTION to approve the March 2017 Claim Checks No. 31468 through 31489, No. 31524 through No. 31577 in the amount of $455,225.46. Councilmember Gallagher SECONDED. There was Council discussion. Motion Carried.
