BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

February 13, 2018

Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 PM and the flag salute was given.

 

Roll Call:

Present: Mayor Colinas, Councilmember Gallagher, Joplin, Kaemingk, Krienke, Nick, Steele and Thorpe.

Staff: Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.

 

Public Requests & Oral Communications: None.

 

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Councilmember Kaemingk attended the negotiation meeting with Laborers Local 1239 on Monday, February 12, 2018.

Councilmember Steele reviewed the claim checks over this past weekend.

 

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of January 23, 2018. Motion: Approve the Brier City Council Minutes of January 23, 2018. Moved by Councilmember Kaemingk, Seconded by Councilmember Joplin. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of February 6, 2018. Motion: Approve the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of February 6. Moved by Councilmember Gallagher, Seconded by Councilmember Steele. Motion Carried.

 

Consent Agenda:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Consent Agenda which includes authorization of the Mayor's signature on the 2018 Sewer Plan update by Pace Engineers in an amount not to exceed $46,800.00; authorizing the release of bonds and assignments of funds related to the Fisken Subdivision in the amounts of $3,600 for the trees, $24,990.30 for the final lift of asphalt, $15,346.50 for erosion control and $1,248.30 for irrigation sprinkler system. Motion: Approve the Consent Agenda as stated. Moved by Councilmember Joplin, Seconded by Councilmember Steele. Motion Carried.

 

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:

Mayor Colinas reported that he was successful in obtaining grant money from the State of Washington for $115,000 for ADA ramps as well as $40,000 from Snohomish County.

 

Mayor Colinas introduced Hunter Hendrickson of our Parks Board to discuss the Music in the Park event. The proposal includes having a beer garden run by a non-profit and have food trucks, potentially charging the food trucks an additional fee to participate.

 

Mayor Colinas discussed that there may not be any items ready for the February 20th Council Workshop meeting. Motion: To cancel the Brier City Council Workshop meeting for February 20, 2018. Moved by Councilmember Gallagher, Seconded by Councilmember Nick. Motion Carried.


Auditing of Accounts:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the January 2018 Payroll Checks. Motion: Approve the January 2018 Payroll Checks No. 32622 through No. 32623 and No. 32686 through No. 32697, Check No. 32736 and EFTs in the amount of $162,273.28. Moved by Councilmember Steele, Seconded by Councilmember Nick. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the January 2018 Claim Checks. Motion: Approve the January 2018 Claim Checks No. 32734 through No. 32735 and No. 32740 through No. 32786 in the amount of $142,003.26. Moved by Councilmember Steele, Seconded by Councilmember Joplin. Motion Carried.

Mayor Colinas declared the meeting adjourned at 7:52 PM.
