BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

March 27, 2018

Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 PM and the flag salute was given.

 

Roll Call:

Present: Mayor Colinas, Councilmember Gallagher, Joplin, Kaemingk, Krienke, Nick, Steele and Thorpe.

 

Public Requests & Oral Communications:

Mayor Colinas turned the floor over to Chief Catlett. Chief Catlett introduced our newest officer Brian Flowers. Chief Catlett gave a brief overview of the accomplishments that Officer Gary Tilleson has achieved in his short time with us and shared that Officer Tilleson is being awarded our Employee Recognition Award.

 

Daniel Hackney, Brier, Chair of the Library Board made a request on behalf of the Library Board to add a sign on the front of the Library building. He had met with staff and was informed that code needs to be changed before that can happen. He asked that this be moved up the list of priorities to get this done.

 

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Councilmember Nick attended the March 14th library board meeting.

Councilmember Steele reviewed the claim checks over the weekend.

Councilmember Thorpe attended the parks board meeting on March 14th.

 

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of March 20, 2018. Motion: Approve the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of March 20, 2018. Moved by Councilmember Nick, Seconded by Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.

 

New Business, Petitions, Communications, Application Appeals:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval to authorize the Mayor to release Trillium creek, LLC Bond No. WAC53766 in the amount of $15,592.50. Motion: Approve to authorize the Mayor to release Trillium creek, LLC Bond No. WAC53766 in the amount of $15,592.50. Moved by Councilmember Gallagher, Seconded by Councilmember Joplin. Motion Carried.

 

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:

Mayor Colinas reported that we have held 3 union negotiations with the laborers union and he hopes that we are close to an agreement and will bring the revised agreement to the next workshop.


Councilmember Gallagher will be absent next week.

 

Councilmember Nick asked about the land use signs on the old Nike Manor property.

 

Auditing of Accounts:

Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the March 2018 Claim Checks.Motion: Approve the March 2018 Claim Checks No. 32874 through No. 32904 in the amount of $325,971.64. Moved by Councilmember Steele, Seconded by Councilmember Joplin. Motion Carried.

 

Adjournment

Mayor Colinas declared the meeting adjourned at 7:33 PM.
