BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
July 14, 2020
Mayor Colinas called the regular Brier City Council
Meeting to order at and the flag salute was given 7:07 PM.
Roll Call:
Present: Mayor Colinas, Councilmembers Gallagher, Joplin,
Kaemingk, Krienke, Nick, Steele and Thorpe.
Staff: Clerk-Treasurer Swisher and
Chief Catlett.
Public
Requests & Oral Communications:
Steve DeKoekKoek, Brier,
encouraged the Mayor and Council to give consideration to an off-leash dog park
and he provided a handout with information that he collected via social media
for a poll on people interested in having an off-leash dog park.
Reports of
Committees & City Officials:
Councilmember Kaemingk attended the following
meetings, July 7th staff meeting, July 10th met with the Mayor and Chief, July
12th reviewed claim checks and July 13th staff meeting.
Councilmember Joplin attended the Snohomish County
Board of Health meeting July 14th.
Approval
of Minutes:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the Brier City
Council Minutes of June 23, 2020. Motion:
Approve the Brier City Council Minutes of June 23, 2020, Moved by Councilmember Nick, Seconded
by Councilmember Steele.
Motion Carried.
New Business:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration the Bid
Award for the 228th Street Pavement Preservation Project. Motion:
Award the bid for the 228th Street Pavement Preservation Project to
Cadman Materials, LLC in the amount of $255,248.00. Moved by Councilmember Krienke, Seconded by Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.
Miscellaneous
Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:
Mayor Colinas offered his letter of resignation
effective July 16, 2020.
Motion: Appoint Dale Kaemingk to
finish the Mayor's term upon the effective date of Mayor Colinas' resignation. Moved by Councilmember Krienke, Seconded by Councilmember Steele.
Motion Carried.
Clerk-Treasurer Swisher presented Mayor Colinas
with a plaque. Chief Catlett said a few words as did several Councilmembers.
Councilmember Nick mentioned that our neighboring
city of Bothell lost an officer yesterday and he wanted to stated
that Blue Lives Matter. Chief Catlett reached out to the Bothell Police Chief
to offer our condolences and any help that we could provide during this tragic
time.
Auditing
of Accounts:
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the June 2020 Payroll
Checks. Motion: Approve the June 2020 Payroll Checks No. 41731
through No. 41734, Check No. 41774 and EFT transactions in the amount of
$196,811.62. Moved by Councilmember Kaemingk, Seconded by Councilmember Nick. Motion
Carried.
Mayor Colinas opened for consideration approval of the April 2020 Claim
Checks. Motion: Approve the June 2020 Claim Checks No. 41771
through No. 41773, Checks No. 41775 through No. 41823 in the amount of
$138,567.57. Moved
by Councilmember Kaemingk, Seconded by Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.

declared the meeting adjourned at 7:38 PM.
