BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

August 11, 2020

Mayor Kaemingk called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:01 PM and the flag salute was given.

 

Roll Call:

Present: Mayor Kaemingk, Councilmembers Gallagher, Joplin, Krienke, Nick, Steele, Thorpe.

Staff: Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.


Public Requests & Oral Communications: None.

 

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Councilmember Joplin attended the Snohomish Health District meeting on August 11, 2020.

Councilmember Nick reviewed the claim checks on August 10, 2020.

Councilmember Gallagher attended two Community Transit meetings last week and was re-elected as the alternate representative.

Mayor Kaemingk reported that Planner Flathman informed him today that we are close to finalizing the history book and we are looking for ideas for the cover of the book.

Mayor Kaemingk stated that he met with the City Engineers to get up to speed.

 

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of July 28, 2020. Motion: Approve the Brier City Council Minutes of July 28, 2020. Moved by Councilmember Nick, Seconded by Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of August 4, 2020. Motion: Approve the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of August 4, 2020. Moved by Councilmember Gallagher, Seconded by Councilmember Nick. Motion Carried.

 

New Business, Petitions, Communications, Application Appeals:

Mayor Kaemingk opened for the review and discussion for approval of the scope of work for construction administration and inspection services by Pace Engineers for the 228th Street Pavement Preservation Project. Motion: Approve the scope of work for construction administration and inspection services by Pace Engineers for the 228th Street Pavement Preservation Project for an amount not to exceed $30,000.00. Moved by Councilmember Nick, Seconded by Councilmember Krienke. Motion Carried.


Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:

Councilmember Krienke asked for an executive session after the auditing of accounts to discuss the large group of perspective applicants for the council vacancy. Motion: To move to executive session for no longer than 30 minutes pursuant to RCW 42.30.110(h) to evaluate qualifications of candidates for the appointment to elective office and adjourn from the meeting at the end of executive session as no action will be taken. Moved by Councilmember Krienke, Seconded by Councilmember Nick. Motion Carried. Adjourned to exec at 7:20 PM. Meeting was adjourned at 7:50 PM.


Auditing of Accounts:

Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the July 2020 Payroll Checks. Motion: Approve the July 2020 Payroll Check No. 41824, Checks No. 41849 through No. 41851 in the amount of $151,221.03. Moved by Councilmember Nick, Seconded by Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the July 2020 Claim Checks. Motion: Approve the July 2020 Claim Check No. 41848, Checks No. 41852 through No. 41887 in the amount of $91,489.94. Moved by Councilmember Nick, Seconded by Councilmember Krienke. Motion Carried.

Mayor Kaemingk declared the meeting adjourned at 7:50 PM.
