Councilmember Krienke had an idea about asking John
Lockhart to come back and speak to the council again because he was so nervous
when he interviewed for the Council vacancy. There was Council discussion
regarding whether to bring back both candidates or if
anyone wished to vote now. Motion:
Nominate John Lockhart for the open council vacancy. Moved by Councilmember Joplin, Seconded
by Councilmember Gallagher. Vote:
Motion passed (summary: Yes = 5, No
= 0, Abstain = 1). Yes: Councilmember

Councilmember Gallagher asked if we would be having
a workshop meeting next week. Clerk-Treasurer Swisher explained that the items
we had planned to talk about were the renewal of the Prosecuting Attorney's
contract and to inform the Council that our Public Defender Greg Schrag has given us notice that he is retiring at the end
of the year and we will begin a search for a new Public Defender. Council was
fine with the Prosecuting Attorney contract being brought forward at the next
regular meeting. Motion: Cancel the
City Council Workshop meeting of September 15th. Moved by Councilmember Marley, Seconded
by Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.
