BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

October 12, 2021

Mayor Kaemingk called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 PM.

 

Roll Call:

Present: Mayor Kaemingk, Councilmembers Gallagher, Joplin, Krienke, Marley, Nick, and Rosman.

Absent: Councilmember Lockhart.

Staff: Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.

 

Public Requests & Oral Communications:

Don Moran - Brier, lives near the pedestrian bridge near 214th, he and some of his neighbors would like to volunteer time to help get that bridge re-opened if possible. He requested a request for proposal and an analysis to see how the bridge can be brought back sooner. He offered that they have a few people good with grant applications that would be happy to help with trying to get grants.

 

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Mayor Kaemingk reported that the FAQs responses are almost ready. Additionally we are continuing moving forward with the review of police applicants and we have received some applicants for the police chief position and are beginning interviews of the candidates.

Councilmember Krienke reported on the rebranding meeting that was held on October 11th.

Councilmember Nick reviewed the claim checks on October 8th and attended the rebranding meeting on October 11th.

Councilmember Gallagher attend the Community Transit Northgate Transit Station rail opening on October 4th and the board meeting on October 7th.

Councilmember Joplin reported from the Snohomish Health District meeting of October 14th.

Councilmember Rosman attended the rebranding meeting on October 11th and reported that the Librarian Kelley Murdock has accepted a different position and we will hopefully have a new person in the position by the end of the month.

 

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of September 28, 2021. Motion: Approve the Brier City Council Minutes of September 28, 2021, Moved by Councilmember Marley, Seconded by Councilmember Joplin. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of October 5, 2021. Motion: Approve the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of October 5, 2021, Moved by Councilmember Gallagher, Seconded by Councilmember Marley.

Motion Carried.

 

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:

Mayor Kaemingk reported that there will be a workshop next week.

Councilmember Nick reported that he has gone by Nugget Park and the sidewalks are getting close to completion.


Auditing of Accounts:

Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the September 2021 Payroll Checks. Motion: Approve the September 2021 Payroll Checks No. 42950 through No. 42954 and EFT transactions in the amount of $136,076.39, Moved by Councilmember Nick, Seconded by Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the September 2021 Claim Checks Motion: Approve the September 2021 Claim Checks No. 42983 through No. 42986, Checks No. 43021 through No. 43054 in the amount of $246,055.65 and voided Check No. 42985, Checks No. 42987 through No. 43020, Moved by Councilmember Nick, Seconded by Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.

Mayor Kaemingk declared the meeting adjourned at 7:30 PM.
