BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
November 23, 2021
Mayor Kaemingk called the regular Brier City
Council Meeting to order at 7:01 PM.
Roll Call:
Present: Mayor Kaemingk, Councilmembers Gallagher, Krienke, Marley, Nick,
and Rosman.
Absent: Councilmembers Joplin and
Lockhart.
Staff: Clerk-Treasurer Swisher.
Public
Requests & Oral Communications:
Hisham Othman, Brier, commented that city code
17.38.060 is inaccurate regarding political signs and asked that it be updated.
Reports of
Committees & City Officials:
Mayor Kaemingk reported
that we have a new police officer and will have him join us to introduce himself
at a future meeting, our process for hiring a police chief is moving forward
and we are in process of doing interviews for a police clerk. The pedestrian
bridge repairs are being formalized so that we can look at moving the process
forward. City cell phones have been issued to public works and police staff. We
have been purchasing miscellaneous equipment that the police officers need.
Councilmember Nick
reviewed the claim checks on November 19th.
Councilmember Krienke
reported on the rebranding progress and that we will be bringing forward the
designs at the December 7th workshop meeting.
Councilmember Gallagher attended
the November 17th planning commission meeting, they had an
interesting meeting where everyone was really digging into the code change and
sent it back for further review by staff.
Councilmember Marley
asked about how the recruiting for the public works position is going.
Councilmember Rosman attended the Snohomish County
healthy forest initiative presentation on November 16th, she
observed the Sno-Isle Library system board meeting on
November 22nd and the Snohomish County Planning Commission on
November 23rd.
Approval
of Minutes:
Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the Brier City
Council Minutes of November 9, 2021. Motion:

Councilmember Nick, Seconded by
Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.
New
Business:
Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration the selection of a
Representative to the Community Transit Board for 2022. Motion:
Approve Councilmember Gallagher as a Representative to the Community Transit
Board for 2022, Moved by
Councilmember Marley, Seconded by
Councilmember Krienke. Motion Carried.
Miscellaneous
Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:
Councilmember Nick asked
if the Nugget Park project was officially done and if the payment
we just processed was the final payment.
Councilmember Marley
reminded everyone that the tree lighting will be held December 4th.
Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the November 2021
Claim Checks Motion:
Approve the November 2021 Claim Checks No. 43164 through No. 43167,
Check No. 43173 and Checks No. 43175 through No. 43204
in the amount of $295,931.09 and voided Check No. 43174. Reason: Misprint, Moved by
Councilmember Nick, Seconded by
Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.
