BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
January 4, 2022
Mayor Kaemingk called the regular Brier City
Council Meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
Roll Call:
Present: Mayor Kaemingk,
Councilmembers Gallagher, Krienke, Lockhart, Marley,
Moran, Nick, and Rosman.
Staff: Clerk-Treasurer Swisher
and Public Works Supervisor Smith.
Public
Requests & Oral Communications:
Maria Buell, Brier, stated she is concerned with
the condition of the roads during the snow event and believes the City should
acquire some type of de-icing mechanism for the safety of everyone and
especially people who still need to commute to work even during a snow event.
She hopes the Council will consider using something going forward.
Reports of
Committees & City Officials:
Mayor Kaemingk discussed
our snow event and thanked Steve Smith our Public Works Supervisor for working
from home last week while ill and directing staff. He also thanked public works
staff Tim and Marcus for their efforts and extra hours they put in to help deal
with the road conditions. In addition, he thanked the public for their emails
about issues to help us improve our service. Mayor Kaemingk went onto discuss
our plows, the weather, de-icing, salt, the good and the bad. He thanked our police officers for their
assistance during the snow event as well.
Public Works Supervisor, Steve Smith discussed how
and why we handle the snow events in the manner that we do.
Councilmember Nick reviewed the claim checks on
December 28th.
Councilmember Marley met with the Public Works crew
prior to Christmas, and he noted a few of the highlights of the projects that
they accomplished throughout the year.
Approval
of Minutes:
Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the Brier City
Council Minutes of December 14, 2021. Motion: Approve
the Brier City Council Minutes of December 14, 2021, Moved by Councilmember Marley, Seconded by Councilmember Lockhart. Motion
Carried.
New
Business:
Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration the Personal Services Agreement
with Nick Almquist. Mayor Kaemingk gave an overview of the process that the City employed for the selection. Nick Almquist was given an
opportunity to introduce himself to the Council. Councilmember Krienke
discussed his interview process with Mr. Almquist. Motion: Approve the Personal Services
Agreement with Nick Almquist, Moved by Councilmember Krienke, Seconded by Councilmember Lockhart. Motion Carried.
Miscellaneous
Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:
Councilmember Krienke stated that he would like to
discuss the rebranding at the next meeting.
Auditing
of Accounts:
Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the December 2021
Payroll Checks. Motion: Approve the December 2021 Payroll Checks No. 43333
through No. 43337 and EFT transactions in the amount of $135,617.63, Moved by
Councilmember Nick, Seconded by
Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.
Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the December 2021 Claim Checks Motion: Approve the December
2021 Claim Checks No. 43294 through No. 43332 and AFT Transaction in the amount
of $161,268.93, Moved
by Councilmember Nick, Seconded by
Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.
Adjournment
Mayor Kaemingk declared the meeting adjourned at 8:00 PM.
