BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
May 24, 2022
Mayor Kaemingk called the regular Brier City
Council Meeting to order at 7:02 PM.
Roll Call:
Present: Mayor Kaemingk,
Councilmembers Gallagher, Krienke, Lockhart, Marley,
Moran, Nick, and Rosman.
Staff: Clerk-Treasurer Swisher and Lieutenant Ridout.

Committees & City Officials:
Mayor Kaemingk stated
that we have received the needed approvals and are hoping to get the Elm Way pedestrian
bridge repaired within the fish window this summer as long as
we can find a contractor. He stated that we had our staff appreciation lunch on
Monday. He reminded the Council about the Mountlake Terrace invite to discuss
Snohomish County's use of the funds and a chance to offer input.
Councilmember Gallagher reviewed the claim checks on May 19th.
Councilmember Marley attended the May 18th Planning Commission meeting, he
reported that there was a good training on the role of the Commissioners and
how to make motions. Those who were not in attendance will be sent the video to
watch.

Miscellaneous
Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:
LT. Ridout gave an update on our police vehicles,
P4 was taken in and had an oil separator installed and the shop recommended a new
engine. The rental car is here and in use as of yesterday. We have oral boards
on Wednesday to fill our final position. He reported on a couple of events that
are coming up, the first is Coffee with a Cop on June 1st and
National Night Out will be back on August 2nd.
Councilmembers Gallagher & Nick both spoke in
favor of leasing police vehicle and hope we get that wrapped up soon.
Mayor Kaemingk stated that we are having
difficulties filling Public Works positions and encouraged everyone if they
know someone who might be interested to send them our way.
Councilmember Rosman asked for an update on the
online sewer billing. She added that she attended the first half of the
Snohomish County planning commission this afternoon.
Councilmember Nick stated that the builder off
Atlas is advertising that they are part of the Brier community. There lot sizes
are only 3,750 square feet and they are selling for $1,300,000. Councilmember
Krienke asked that we discuss with council how lot size averaging and lot size
mitigation works for newer councilmembers to hear about it prior to a plat
coming to us with those types of issues.
Clerk-Treasurer Swisher mentioned that if
Councilmembers want a hard copy packet at the in-person meetings to let her
know right away.

Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the May 2022 Claim
Checks Motion:
Approve the May 2022 Claim Checks No. 43710, Checks No. 43712 through
No. 43714, Checks No. 43720 through No. 43730, Checks No. 43732 through No. 43754 and EFT transactions in the amount of
$132,585.09. Voided Check No. 43548,
Reason: Lost in the mail – Reissued with Check No. 43711. Voided Check No.
43731, Reason: Incorrect Vendor – Reissued with Check No. 43754, Moved by
Councilmember Gallagher, Seconded by
Councilmember Nick. Motion Carried.
