BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
June 14, 2022
Mayor Kaemingk called the
regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 PM and flag salute was
given.
Roll Call:
Present: Mayor Kaemingk,
Councilmembers Gallagher, Krienke, Lockhart, Marley,
Moran, Nick and Rosman.
Staff: Police Chief Almquist, Clerk-Treasurer
Swisher, Deputy Clerk Treasurer Snowden.
Swearing
in of Lieutenant Ridout & Officer Hawley:
Mayor Kaemingk introduced
Chief Almquist for the swearing in of Lieutenant Ridout and Officer Hawley.
Mayor Kaemingk paused the
meeting for a 5-minute recess to allow family members to leave the room at 7:14 PM. Meeting resumed at 7:19 PM.
Public
Requests & Oral Communications:
Hisham Othman, Brier, stated that the city website
states that Brier will no longer receive assistance from Snohomish County Sheriff's
Dept. after the end of May, he wanted to know if we are still receiving
assistance. Mayor Kaemingk confirmed that we are not
being assisted by the County as of May 31.
Reports of
Committees & City Officials:
Councilmember Nick attended the Civil Service Oral
board on May 25 and on June 1 attended the first Coffee with Cop event at Brier
Pizza.
Councilmember Lockhart stated that the Music in the
Park event is coming up.
Council Gallagher reviewed claims checks on Friday,
June 10th.
Councilmember Rosman attended the Library board meeting.
Councilmember Moran met with the Mayor and Deputy
Chief Eastman regarding RFA.
Mayor Kaemingk continues
to attend the Snohomish Co. Mayors meetings, Snohomish Co. 911, and RFA
meetings.
Approval
of Minutes:
Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration
approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of May 24, 2022. Motion:
Approve the Brier City Council Minutes of May 24, 2022. Moved by Councilmember Gallagher, Seconded by Councilmember Krienke. Motion Carried.
Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration
approval of the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of June 7, 2022. Motion: Approve
the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of June 7, 2022, Moved by Councilmember Nick, Seconded
by Councilmember Lockhart. Motion Carried.
Unfinished
Business:
Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval
of the purchase or lease of two police vehicles. Motion: Approval of the purchase of two police vehicles from Dwayne
Lane car dealership not to exceed $120,000.00. Moved by Councilmember Krienke, Seconded by Councilmember Lockhart. Motion Carried.
Miscellaneous
Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:
Mayor Kaemingk asked when
the newsletter will be mailed. Clerk-Treasurer Swisher stated by the end of
next week.
Auditing
of Accounts:
Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration
approval of the May 2022 Payroll Checks. Motion: Approve the May 2022 Payroll Checks No.
43715 through No. 43719 and EFT transactions in the amount of $166,648.91. Moved by
Councilmember Gallagher, Seconded by
Councilmember Nick. Motion Carried.
Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration
approval of the May 2022 Claim Checks. Motion: Approve
the May 2022 Claim Checks No. 43755 through No. 43774, Checks No. 43777 through
No. 43806 in the amount of $444,952.52 and voided Checks No, 43775 and No.
43776. Reason: Black Ink from original printer; unable to use. Moved by
Councilmember Gallagher, Seconded by
Councilmember Marley. There was Council discussion. Motion Carried.
Adjournment
Mayor Kaemingk declared the meeting adjourned
at 7:34 PM.
