BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
August 9, 2022
Mayor Kaemingk called the regular Brier City
Council Meeting to order at 7:00 PM and flag salute was given.
Roll Call:
Present: Mayor Kaemingk,
Councilmembers Gallagher, Krienke, Lockhart, Marley,
Nick, Rosman.
Absent: Councilmember Moran.
Staff: Deputy Clerk Snowden,
Police Chief Almquist.
Public
Requests & Oral Communications:
Jan Doran, Brier, attended the Snohomish County
meeting regarding the housing project on 228th St. SE in Bothell and
is very concerned about the increased traffic issues on Brier roads surrounding
the project and where the drivers will be re-directed during the project. She is also concerned about the dumping /
pollution issues from the previous owners that are affecting Scriber Creek.
Mayor Kaemingk responded by saying the City has expressed concerned about
issues and encouraged residents to attend the County meetings to voice their concerns.
Councilmember Krienke suggested the City do a traffic
count to show the increase on Brier roads to provide to the County with solid
numbers on the traffic increase.
Reports of
Committees & City Officials:
Mayor Kaemingk mentioned National Night Out as
being a huge success. Chief Almquist gave an update and congratulated Lt.
Ridout on a job well-done in organizing the event. The chief also mentioned that Officer Munn's
first day with the department was today and that Officer Kendrick is no longer
employed with the city so he is working on finding
qualified applicants to fill the position.
Mayor Kaemingk stated that Lee Michaelis is a great
fit and is already making suggestions for change. Tomorrow night is SeaScare
and encouraged everyone to attend. He also mentioned that he and the Chief
Almquist are part of the Emergency management Board and are learning a lot.
Councilmember Nick met with Chief Almquist on
August 1st regarding vehicle maintenance issues.
Councilmember Gallagher reviewed checks and
attended a Community Transit board meeting.
Approval
of Minutes:
Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the Brier City
Council Minutes of July 26, 2022. Motion: Approve
the Brier City Council Minutes of July 26, 2022. Moved by Councilmember Krienke, Seconded by Councilmember Lockhart. Motion Carried.
Miscellaneous
Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:
Mayor Kaemingk opened for discussion about Park
Facilities. He would like to create a priority list to include the Brier park restrooms, amphitheater and tennis courts. Council discussion.
Mayor Kaemingk opened discussion to cancel the
August 16th Council workshop meeting. Motion: Approval of the cancellation of the August 16th
Council workshop meeting. Moved by
Councilmember Gallagher, Seconded by
Councilmember Nick. Motion Carried.
Auditing
of Accounts:
Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the July 2022
Payroll Checks. Motion: Approve the July 2022 Payroll Checks No. 43912
through No. 23916 and EFT transactions in the amount of $163,576.01. Moved by
Councilmember Gallagher, Seconded by
Councilmember Nick. Motion Carried.
Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the July 2022 Claim
Checks. Motion: Approve the July 2022 Claim Check No. 43911, Checks
No. 43917 and No. 43918, Checks No. 43920 and through No. 43939 in the amount
of $151,240.89 and voided Check No. 43919. Reason: Incorrect amount paid;
reissued with Check No. 43939. Moved by Councilmember Gallagher, Seconded by Councilmember Lockhart. Motion Carried.
Adjournment
Mayor Kaemingk declared the meeting adjourned at 7:37 PM.
