BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

October 11, 2022

Mayor Pro-Tem Gallagher called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 PM

 

Roll Call:

Present: Councilmembers Gallagher, Krienke, Lockhart, Marley, Moran, Nick, and Rosman.

Staff: Utility Billing Clerk Zenk, Police Chief Almquist.

Absent: Mayor Kaemingk.

 

Public Requests & Oral Communications:

Hisham Othman, Brier-Would like to see Zoom come back for Council Meetings so residents can view and participate when they are not able to attend in person.

ML Demorett, Brier-Please inform citizens on next newsletter to put garbage cans on the street next to the curb and not middle of the sidewalks.

 

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Councilmember Rosman attended the Fire Presentation at City Hall on Monday, Oct 10th.

Councilmember Gallagher reviewed checks and attended the Community Transit board meeting on October 7th

Councilmember Nick met with Chief Almquist and discussed staffing and equipment on October 6th.

Chief Almquist gave a brief update on police vehicles, speeding/enforcement in Brierwood and installing a crosswalk in the neighborhood, opened entry-level testing for lateral position and checked in on BTMS pickup/drop off issue.

 

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Pro-Tem Gallagher opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of September 27, 2022. Motion: Approve the Brier City Council Minutes of September 27, 2022. Moved by Councilmember Nick, Seconded by Councilmember Lockhart. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Pro-Tem Gallagher opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of October 4, 2022. Motion: Approve the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of October 4, 2022. Moved by Councilmember Marley, Seconded by Councilmember Rosman. Motion Carried.

 

Ordinances, Resolutions & Orders:

Mayor Pro-Tem Gallagher opened for consideration approval of Ordinance No. 477.A, an amendment to the 2022 Operating Budget. Motion: Approve Ordinance No. 477.A, an amendment to the 2022 Operating Budget. Moved by Councilmember Marley, Seconded by Councilmember Moran. Councilmember Rosman wanted it read into the record that City Clerk-Treasurer Swisher shared with Council what the amendment in the budget affected. Motion Carried.

 

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:

Councilmember Moran said he received his Voters Pamphlet in the mail


Mayor Pro-Tem Gallagher opened for consideration approval of the September 2022 Payroll Checks. Motion: Approve the September 2022 Payroll Checks No. 44041 through No. 44045 and EFT transactions in the amount of $167,347.08. Moved by Councilmember Nick, Seconded by Councilmember Krienke. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Pro-Tem Gallagher opened for consideration approval of the September 2022 Claim Checks. Motion: Approve the September 2022 Claim Checks No. 44078 and 4407, Checks No. 44081 through No. 44114 in the amount of $151,102.82 and voided Check No. 43969. Reason: Invoices paid by credit card, no indication of payment on invoices. Moved by Councilmember Nick, Seconded by Councilmember Krienke. Motion Carried.

Mayor Pro-Tem Gallagher declared the meeting adjourned at 7:23 PM.
