BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
March 14, 2023
Mayor Kaemingk called the regular Brier City
Council Meeting to order at 7:00 PM and flag salute was given.
Roll Call:
Present: Mayor Kaemingk, Councilmembers Gallagher, Krienke,
Lockhart, Marley, Moran, Nick, and Rosman.
Staff: Police Chief Almquist, Utility Clerk Zenk
Public
Requests & Oral Communications: None
Reports of
Committees & City Officials:
Mayor Kaemingk participated in a 12-hour
ride along with Station No. 18 and attended the Puget Sound Drug Task Force
meeting.
Councilmember Rosman attended the Puget Sound Drug
Task Force meeting and gave a brief overview. She also attended the Library
Board meeting to introduce Councilmember Moran, and the Park Board meeting on
the 8th and joined in on the Legislative calls regarding lot sub-dividing.
Councilmember Lockhart met with the Mayor on the 7th and met with the Chief on the 14th.
Councilmember Moran attended the Library Board
meeting and gave a brief overview.
Councilmember Marley reviewed claim checks on the 10th.
Councilmember Gallagher attended the Community
Transit meeting on the 10th and gave a brief overview. He also
attended the Public Works meeting, the Fire Station open house and has spent
time in the radio room.

March 7, 2023. Motion:
Approve the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of March 7, 2023. Moved by
Councilmember Gallagher, Seconded by
Councilmember Krienke. Motion Carried.
Consent
Agenda:
Mayor Kaemingk
opened for consideration the purchase of the HVAC unit from Gasline Mechanical
in an amount not to exceed $30,000. Motion: Approve the purchase of the
HVAC unit from Gasline Mechanical in an amount not to exceed $30,000. Moved by Councilmember Marley, Seconded by Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.
Miscellaneous
Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:
Chief Almquist informed the Council that Active
Shooting training will be done on March 21st with Officer Hawley and
gave a brief overview of police department updates and concerns. Snohomish
County Sheriff's office will be covering the next 3 graveyard shifts from 6pm-6am.
The Chief shared that staffing issues, shift coverage and lack of security are paying
a toll on the police departments morale and he feels
strongly that having 1 officer on per shift is not sustainable for Brier
anymore. There was council discussion.

of Accounts:
Mayor Kaemingk
opened for consideration approval of the February 2023 Payroll Checks. Motion: Approve the February
2023 Payroll Checks No. 44472 through No. 44476 and EFT transactions in the
amount of $171,476.27. Moved by Councilmember Marley, Seconded
by Councilmember Gallagher. Motion
Carried.

opened for consideration approval of the February 2023 Claim Checks. Motion:
Approve the February 2023 Claim Checks No. 44502 through No. 44544 in
the amount of $238,087.31. Moved by Councilmember Marley, Seconded
by Councilmember Nick. Motion Carried.
Adjournment

declared the meeting adjourned at 7:36PM.
