BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

March 28, 2023

Mayor Kaemingk called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 PM and flag salute was given.

 

Roll Call:

Present: Mayor Kaemingk, Councilmembers Gallagher, Krienke, Lockhart, Marley, Moran, Nick, and Rosman.

Staff: Clerk-Treasurer Swisher and Chief Almquist.

 

Public Requests & Oral Communications: None.

 

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Mayor Kaemingk reported that Chief Almquist hosted the police chiefs and sheriffs last week. He reported that Congresswoman Susan Del Bene will be here to meet with the Mayor and Chief next week.

Councilmember Lockhart did a ride along with Officer Montague last week.

Councilmember Krienke attended the Planning Commission meeting on March 22nd.

Councilmember Marley reviewed claim checks on March 24th.

Councilmember Rosman watched the legislative update last week. She reminded everyone that the Annual Egg Hunt will be April 8th.

 

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of March 14, 2023. Motion: Approve the Brier City Council Minutes of March 14, 2023, Moved by Councilmember Nick, Seconded by Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of March 21, 2023. Motion: Approve the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of March 21, 2023, Moved by Councilmember Gallagher, Seconded by Councilmember Marley. Motion Carried.

 

New Business:

Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration the additional probing work needed for the 228th/Old Poplar Way Drainage Project, in an amount of $10,500.00. Motion: Approve the additional probing work needed for the 228th/Old Poplar Way Drainage Project, in an amount of $10,500.00, Moved by Councilmember Marley, Seconded by Councilmember Rosman. Motion Carried.


Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration the Right of Entry Request from Snohomish County Conservation & Natural Resources. Motion: Approve the Right of Entry Request from Snohomish County Conservation & Natural Resources, Moved by Councilmember Gallagher, Seconded by Councilmember Nick. Motion Carried.

 

 

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:

Chief Almquist reported that the monthly Chiefs and Sheriff meeting was the largest attendance he has seen, they discussed regional training locations. He announced that we have two candidates that are going through the background process. Everyone has successfully qualified on their rifles and handguns for the year. He has a meeting with Sheriff Fortney to request a few back-up shifts for us in the coming months. The Chief had to fill in for a sick officer on Saturday.


Auditing of Accounts:

Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the March 2023 Claim Checks Motion: Approve the March 2023 Claim Checks No. 44546 through No. 44550, Checks No. 44556 through No. 44581 in the amount of $422,361.90 and Voided Check No. 44545. Reason: Incorrect Amount, reissued with Check No. 44546, Moved by Councilmember Marley, Seconded by Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.

Mayor Kaemingk declared the meeting adjourned at 7:38 PM.
