BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
May 9, 2023
Mayor Kaemingk called the regular Brier City
Council Meeting to order at 7:02 PM and flag salute was given.
Roll Call:
Present: Mayor Kaemingk,
Councilmembers Gallagher, Krienke, Lockhart, Marley,
Moran, Nick and Rosman.
Staff: Clerk-Treasurer Swisher
and Chief Almquist.
Public
Requests & Oral Communications:
Gary Morgan - Brier, held up the informational card
that was sent out regarding the April 25th ballot measure. He
believes that the omission of the contract end date on the information card was
not honorable or transparent.
Reports of
Committees & City Officials:
Councilmember Marley reviewed the claims on May 6th.
Councilmember Lockhart met with the Chief on May 1st.
Councilmember Moran met with the Library Board on
May 4th, there was not a quorum of board members.
Councilmember Gallagher attended the Snohomish
County Cities dinner to discuss the law and justice committee, participated in
the radio room exercise, and met with Public Works twice.
Councilmember Rosman gave an update on HB1110 that
the governor has still not signed and that she believes it would still affect
us.
Approval
of Minutes:
Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the Brier City
Council Minutes of April 25, 2023. Motion:
Approve the Brier City Council Minutes of
April 25, 2023, Moved by
Councilmember Nick, Seconded by
Councilmember Krienke. There was Council discussion. Motion Carried.
Miscellaneous
Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:
Chief Almquist talked briefly about the incident in
the city on May 6th, he cannot speak to it more than what was in the
press release. There are still two viable candidates for the open position. He
continues to dredge through the federal grant system for the security upgrades
as well as the vactor truck. The mayors of Snohomish County have come together
to create an ordinance to help the cities deal with possession and public use
of drugs and paraphernalia.
Mayor Kaemingk mentioned that in next week's
workshop meeting, council will be discussing the
condition of the Brier Park and the Interlocal Agreement with the Sheriff's
office for temporary shift coverage.
Auditing
of Accounts:
Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the April 2023
Payroll Checks. Motion: Approve the April 2023 Payroll Checks
No. 44617 through No. 44620 and EFT transactions in the amount of $173,680.76, Moved by
Councilmember Marley, Seconded by
Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.
Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the April 2023 Claim
Checks. Motion: Approve the April 2023
Claim Checks No. 44652 through No. 44692 in the amount of $149,670.47, Moved by
Councilmember Marley, Seconded by
Councilmember Nick. There was Council discussion. Motion Carried.
Adjournment
Mayor Kaemingk declared the meeting adjourned at 7:49 PM.
