BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

May 14, 2024

Mayor Kaemingk called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 PM and flag salute was given.

 

Roll Call:

Present: Mayor Kaemingk, Councilmembers Gallagher, Krienke, Lockhart, Marley, Othman, Allen and Rosman.

Staff: Deputy City Clerk Snowden.

 

Public Requests & Oral Communications: None

 

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Mayor Kaemingk mentioned that since our Building Official Eric Beverly retired, the city has contracted with SafeBuilt regarding doing inspections and reviewing plans. The Mayor extended his appreciation to the staff for taking on the additional responsibilities regarding the building official duties that need to be done in-house. Snohomish County Mayors met and composed a letter of concern regarding Indigent defense case load limits to lower the number of cases attorneys can have, they also discussed a public safety sales tax revenue for Snohomish County. Congress woman Suzan DelBene will be in our area on May 28, and he has invited her to our regular council meeting.

Councilmember Lockhart reviewed the claims checks on May 14

Councilmember Gallagher met with the Public Works department, sat in the radio room and attended a Community Transit meeting.

Councilmember Rosman attended the Brier Park board meeting on May 8 and the Comprehensive Plan meeting on May 11.

Councilmember Allen attended the Library Board meeting.

 

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of April 23, 2024. Motion: Approve the Brier City Council Minutes of April 23, 2024. Moved by Councilmember Gallagher, Seconded by Councilmember Marley. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of May 7, 2024. Motion: Approve the Brier City Council Workshop Minutes of May 7, 2024. Moved by Councilmember Rosman, Seconded by Councilmember Allen. Motion Carried.

 

Consideration Of Bids, L.I.D.S & Related Matters:

Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the bid award for the 2024 Pavement Preservation Project to Granite Construction in the amount of $801,169.00. Motion: Approve the bid award for the 2024 Pavement Preservation Project to Granite Construction in the amount of $801,169.00.Moved by Councilmember Marley, Seconded by Councilmember Gallagher.

Motion Carried.

 

Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:

Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration to cancel the May 21 council workshop meeting. Motion: Approve to cancel the May 21 council workshop meeting. Moved by Councilmember Marley, Seconded by Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.


Auditing of Accounts:

Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the April 2024 Payroll Checks.

Motion: Approve the April 2024 Payroll Checks No. 45595 through No. 45598 and EFT transactions in the amount of $291,515.24. Moved by Councilmember Lockhart, Seconded by Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Kaemingk opened for consideration approval of the April 2024 Claim Checks.

Motion: Approve the April 2024 Claim Checks No. 45640 through No. 45692 in the amount of $197,720.83. Moved by Councilmember Lockhart, Seconded by Councilmember Marley.

Motion Carried.
