Mayor Kaemingk called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 PM and flag salute was given.

Roll Call:

Present: Mayor Kaemingk Councilmembers Allen, Gallagher, Krienke, Lockhart, Marley, Othman and Parsons,

Staff: Police Chief Hawley, City Clerk-Treasurer Swisher and Deputy Clerk-Treasurer Snowden.

Jim Miller, Brier mentioned that on Saturday January 31^st from 9:00 to 11:30am the quarterly radio exercise will be done.

Mayor Pro-Tem. / Councilmember Krienke reported on committee assignments:

Councilmember Gallagher: Budget

Councilmember Krienke: Library Board

Mayor Kaemingk and City Planner Michaelis met with the Dept. of Commerce regarding housing affordability.

Councilmembers Gallagher, Marley and Allen attended the AWC Conference. Each Councilmember gave an overview of conference.

Mayor Kaemingk and Councilmember Parsons met and reviewed the progress and design plans of the Brier Park restrooms that are being considered.

Councilmember Gallagher reviewed claims checks, sat in the radio room and attended the South County Cities meeting.

Councilmember Allen listened to the PSRC local planning call which included the Housing Authority Act of 2025, the group also talked about future growth and housing affordability in our area.

Councilmember Othman attended the first annual STEM night at the Brier Elementary and was surprised to see Councilmember Gallagher doing Veterinary and Mechanical science for the 4H Club.

Approval of Minutes:

Unfinished Business:

Mayor Kaemingk opened the continued discussion and consideration for approval to purchase a new police car from the State contract in an amount not to exceed $51,000.00. There was council discussion, and they have asked Police Chief Hawley to provide a spreadsheet to show the status on each car. Motion: Approve the purchase of a new police car from the State contract in an amount not to exceed $51,000.00. Moved by Councilmember Othman, Motion fails for lack of second.

Ordinances, Resolutions & Orders:

Mayor Kaemingk opened consideration of Ordinance No. 512, amending section 2.04.040 to increase the compensation of the mayor. Motion: Approve Ordinance No. 512, amending section 2.04.040 to increase the compensation of the mayor from $1000.00 to $3000.00 per month. Moved by Councilmember Krienke, Seconded by Councilmember Lockhart. Councilmember Othman stated that he believes this isn't the right time to adjust the mayor's compensation due to public perception. Councilmember Marley addressed the additional tasks that the mayor has taken on due to absence of staff. Motion Carried.
