BRIER CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

April 14, 2026

Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke called the regular Brier City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 PM and flag salute was given.

 

Roll Call:

Present: Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke, Councilmembers Allen, Gallagher, Marley, Othman and Parsons.

Staff: City Clerk-Treasurer

Absent: Mayor Kaemingk, Councilmember Lockhart.


Public Requests & Oral Communications:

Steve Dekoekkoek, Brier-Asked the Council where the 36th Sidehill Project was located.

Allyson Templeton, Brier-Shared that Brier Grocery is not yet sold. She also said she talked to City Planner Michaelis about a nuisance property and wanted to request that the City pay attention to non-compliant properties. Clerk-Treasurer Swisher responded that the City of Brier is a complaint-based code enforcement.

 

Reports of Committees & City Officials:

Councilmember Marley and Councilmember Krienke met with the Police Chief today.

Councilmember Allen attended the Egg Hunt along with other Councilmembers.

Councilmember Gallagher reviewed checks and attended a Community Transit meeting.

Councilmember Othman thanked Steve Dekoekkoek for the unofficial egg hunt he started a few years ago.

 

Approval of Minutes:

Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke opened for consideration approval of the Brier City Council Minutes of March 24, 2026. Motion: Approve the Brier City Council Minutes of March 24, 2026, Moved by Councilmember Gallagher, Seconded by Councilmember Parsons. Motion Carried.

Consent Agenda:

Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke opened for consideration approval of the contract with Elevator Support company for the elevator maintenance & required testing. Motion: Approve the contract with Elevator Support company for the elevator maintenance & required testing, Moved by Councilmember Marley, Seconded by Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke opened for consideration approval of the scope & fee for the 36th St. Sidehill Stabilization Project. Motion: Approve the scope & fee for the 36th St. Sidehill Stabilization Project with Pace Engineers, Action: Approve, Moved by Councilmember Parsons, Seconded by Councilmember Gallagher. Motion Carried.

 

Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke opened for consideration approval of the Adopt-a-Drain program by Hamlin University in the amount of $4,500 for 2026 and $2,500 for subsequent years. Motion: Approve the Adopt-a-Drain program by Hamlin University in the amount of $4,500 for 2026 and $2,500 for subsequent years, Moved by Councilmember Gallagher, Seconded by Councilmember Marley. New Business:

Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke opened for consideration approval for the release of the Maintenance Assurance Bond for Majestic View Homes, LLC. as part of the Jefferson Park II Short Plat, located at 22202 Old Poplar Way in the amount of $30,373.20. Motion: Approve the release of the Maintenance Assurance Bond for Majestic View Homes, LLC. as part of the Jefferson Park II Short Plat, located at 22202 Old Poplar Way in the amended amount of $30,623.20, Moved by Councilmember Gallagher, Seconded by Councilmember Marley. There was Council discussion. Motion Carried.


Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke opened for consideration approval for the release of the Performance Assurance Bond for Antonel Barson for the single-family building permit located at 23626 Brier Rd. in the amount of $18,300.00. Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke opened for consideration approval of the purchase of the Brier Park bathroom structure from Romtec in an amount not to exceed $239,000.00. Miscellaneous Business by Call of Councilmembers & City Officials:

Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke shared that there will be a Workshop meeting next week. All Councilmembers agreed that the Egg Hunt was a great success.

Mayor Pro-Tem Krienke opened for consideration approval of the March 2026 Claims Checks, Payroll Checks and electronic payments.
