Chairman Protem Friesen called the Brier Planning Commission meeting to order at 7:14 PM.

ROLL CALL:

Present: Commissioners, Gene Funk, Allyn Chrisman, Sue Wahlgren, and Corey Friesen.

Absent: Commissioner Michael Lavoie, Brandon Brock and Jim Hodgen.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

Chairman Protem Friesen opened for consideration approval of the May 21, 2003 Planning Commission minutes. There was discussion. Commissioner Funk moved and Commissioner Chrisman seconded to approve the May 21, 2003 Planning Commission minutes as amended, removing “consisting of”. and replacing it with “or”. Motion Carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS: Mayor Kaske reported that there will be several land use issues on the agenda in the next few months.

NEW BUSINESS – PUBLIC HEARINGS:

VARIANCE APPLICATION #V03-003 BY PHIL HAYES LOCATED AT 23540 39^TH PL. W., BRIER

Chairman ProTem Friesen opened for consideration Variance Application #V03-003 by Phil Hayes at 23540 39^th Place W. Mr. Hayes explained that he is requesting a reduced rear yard setback to allow extension of an existing deck for stairs to escape the home in case of fire. Chairman Protem Friesen opened the Public Hearing at 7:27 PM. There were no comments. Chairman Protem Friesen closed the Public Hearing at 7:27 PM. The Planning Commissioners asked questions. Commissioner Wahlgren moved and, Commissioner Funk seconded to recommend to the Brier City Council, approval of Variance #V03-003 by Mr. Phil Hayes at 23540 39^th Pl. W, as proposed. Motion Carried.

SHORT PLAT APPLICATION #SP03-001 BY BILL KNAPP LOCATED AT 3129 238^TH ST SW, BRIER

Chairman Protem Friesen opened for consideration Short Plat Application #SP03-001 by Bill Knapp at 3129 238^th St. SW. Mr. McDonald represented Mr. Knapp and presented Short Plat Application #SP03-001 to the Planning Commissioners. Chairman Protem Friesen opened the Public Hearing at 7:48 PM. There were no comments. Chairman Protem Friesen closed the Public Hearing at 7:48 PM. Mayor Kaske explained a few minor changes that would be required.

Commissioner Wahlgren moved and Commissioner Friesen seconded to recommend to the Brier City Council approval of Short Plat Application #SP03-001 by Mr. Bill Knapp at 3129 238^th ST SW, with the following caveats that the street width and placement of the water meters be worked out with the City Engineer and the frontage/Park Mitigation issue be worked out with City Administration. Motion Carried.

MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS:

Title 17 will be continued.
