BRIER PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES

May 16, 2007

Chairman Steele called the Brier Planning Commission meeting to order at 7:01:40 PM

ROLL CALL:

Present: Commissioners Michael Lavoie, Kerin Steele, David Marley, Robert Thorpe, Kim Smith

Absent: Commissioner: Gene Funk

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: 7:02:55 PM

Chairman Steele opened for consideration approval of the March 21, 2007 Planning Commission minutes. Commissioner Thorpe moved and Commissioner Marley seconded to approve the March 21, 2007 Planning Commission minutes as written. Motion Carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS: Councilman Krienke reported on tabling a Sunbrook LLA. Possible change in ordinance for sq. ft. regarding the assisted living businesses.

NEW BUSINESS - PUBLIC HEARINGS:

Conditional Use Permit 07-002 for 22830 27 Ave W. in order to have a secondary dwelling unit located on their property.

Jim Cutts discussed the requirements of the property and reviewed the application of comprehensive plan and zoning for approval. Utilities on site must be underground, parking availability and all conditions of permit must be completed and receive final approval and a Certificate of Occupancy issued upon recommendations for approval from the Planning Commission to the City Council.

Chairman Steele opened the Public Hearing 7:10:17 PM for the Conditional Use Permit 07-002 for a secondary dwelling unit. John Neal explained the need for placing a manufactured home on their property for his aging parents. Teresa Neal of 22906 27 Ave W indicated in favor of having parents close by. Hearing closed 7:11:45 PM. There was discussion.

Commissioner Lavoie moved and Commissioner Thorpe seconded to approve Conditional Use Permit 07-002 for 22830 27 Ave W. for the secondary dwelling unit located on their property with conditions to include 17.29.10G water runoff. Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS

Discussed Work Program regarding code clean up; possible mixed use for business zone; property maintenance regulations; parking codes, building codes, tree ordinance and the possibility to combine Planning Commission with Council Workshop to help prioritize changes in a shorter period of time.

MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS: Chairman Steele suggested if a Planning Commissioner cannot make a scheduled meeting then they should call in, otherwise staff will expect them to be in attendance.

Commissioner Lavoi moved and Commissioner Smith seconded to adjourn. Meeting adjourned at 8:53:28 PM
