Chairman Pro-Tem Thorpe called the Brier Planning Commission meeting to order at 7:06:40 PM.

ROLL CALL:

PRESENT: Commissioner Olson, Thorpe, Joplin, Magnuson and Scott; Councilmember Kaemingk.

ABSENT: Commissioner Marley and Smith.

STAFF: City Planner Gaudette.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

Chairman Pro-Tem Thorpe opened for consideration approval of the June 17, 2009 Planning Commission minutes. Commissioner Joplin made a MOTION to approve the June 17, 2009 Planning Commission minutes as written. Commissioner Scott SECONDED. Motion Carried. Magnuson abstained.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Councilmember Kaemingk reported on recent City Council activity.

PUBLIC REQUESTS & ORAL COMMUNICATIONS:

Dave Johnson 2711 231^st ST SW requested to view the staff report for this meeting.

PUBLIC HEARINGS:

Chairman Pro-Tem Thorpe opened for consideration to update the Capital Facilities Element of the Comprehensive Plan. City Planner Gaudette gave an overview of the updates.

Chairman Pro-Tem Thorpe opened the Public Hearing at 7:30:02 PM.

Dave Johnson 2711 231^st ST SW, would like to see the past expenditures Table left in the Comprehensive Plan. Mr. Johnson feels the cost for the new fire station being built in Brier should be in the Comprehensive Plan. He would like the City to consider building a Senior or Community Center.

The Public Hearing closed at 7:40:56 PM.

Commissioner Magnuson made a MOTION to recommend approval of the Capital Facilities Element as presented by staff with two changes.  

1.      Addition of fire emergency response calls for City of Brier.

2.      Change the Northshore School District LOS to reflect Kenmore Junior High Phase II dates.

Commissioner Scott SECONDED. Motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS:

Commissioner Olson made a MOTION to move the date of the August Planning Commission meeting from the 19^th to the 26^th. Commissioner Scott SECONDED. Motion carried.
