Chairman Marley called the
Brier Planning Commission meeting to order at 7:02:33 PM
ROLL CALL:
PRESENT: Commissioner Marley,
Olson, Smith, Joplin, Magnuson and Scott; Councilmember Kaemingk.
Commissioner Thorpe
arrived at 7:32:12 PM .

Engineer Jason Henry
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Chairman
Marley opened for consideration approval of the July 15, 2009 Planning
Commission minutes. Commissioner Scott made a MOTION
to approve the July 15, 2009 Planning Commission minutes as written. Commissioner Joplin SECONDED. Motion
Carried. Commissioners Smith and Marley
abstained.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Councilmember Kaemingk reported on
recent City Council activity.
PUBLIC REQUESTS & ORAL COMMUNICATIONS:
Dave Johnson 2711 224th
ST SW, stated that if the city is
looking into senior housing, they should also consider a senior center.
PUBLIC HEARINGS:
Chairman Marley opened for
consideration approval of the Conditional Use Permit #CU09-001 to build Fire
Station 18 within a residential zone, located at 21206 Poplar Way.
Recess at 7:13:17 PM, to give Commissioner Thorpe time to arrive.
Resume meeting at 7:18:03 PM.
City Planner Gaudette gave an overview
regarding CU09-001 and the recommended conditions for the CUP approval.
Chief Widdis, Fire District 1, 12425 Meridian Ave S, Everett, reviewed why the fire district is
in need of a new station. He also explained the process for selecting the
property.
Chief Aleshire, Fire District 1, 12425 Meridian Ave S, Everett, reviewed the steps Fire District 1
has taken to follow all environmental regulations.
The Public hearing opened at 7:40:29 PM.
Dave Johnson 2711 224th ST SW, was
concerned with the cost involved with building this fire station. He is worried
about the taxation without representation, and stated that the citizens of
Brier should be able to vote for fire district officials.
Sheila Tiemens 3227 214th ST SW, wants to
thank the fire station for all their work on preserving as many trees as they
could.
John Smith, David Evans &
Associates, 1620 W Marine View Dr,
explained how the traffic lights for emergency calls will work.
Eric Schaer, TCA Architecture, 12103 SE 27th ST,
discussed the design for the fueling station.
Commissioner Joplin made a MOTION to recommend approval for
Conditional
Use Permit #CU09-001 to build Fire Station 18, with the conditions outlined in
the staff report. Commissioner Thorpe SECONDED. Motion carried
OLD BUSINESS:
City Planner Gaudette gave an overview of the
SEPA appeal hearing for the Sunbrook development.
ADJOURNMENT:
Commissioner Thorpe made a MOTION to adjourn. Commissioner Smith SECONDED. Meeting
adjourned at 8:09:44 PM.
